Looking good. How are you going to set up your gas peddle Assembly?

the brake pedal arm will be bent/modified, and so will the gas.  i already knew i was going to have to do that when i first test fit everything.  it might make it easier for heel/toe action!

With the transmission tunnel being so high the shifter should be at a great hight and if you set it up you can rest your arm on the tunnel of the driveline. Ive driven a few s2000's and I love the shifter hight and how close it is to the stearing wheel.

I see this car doing better in a road race than built fwd crx. I bet it will have a better dist. of weight vs the fwd setup. If he can get all of the suspention stuff setup right it will handle great.

actually, the weight distribution should be pretty good... although a bit heavier than an oem crx, the fwd setup has the whole engine/tranny between the front wheels.  the tranny on this setup will sit behind them giving the car a much better center of gravity.  but yeah, i don't really know how the car is going to handle until i get it on the road.  the car is not being built for drag, it is being built for the street first and foremost.  i may drag it, drift it, autocross it or time attack it... they way i see it, the car will be able to do just about anything i want it to.  as long as it puts a smile on my face, i won't care.

Im sure it will put a smile on your face.  ;D

I know it would put one on mine. On another note I realy wish that the 97-01 preludes were rear wheel drive. They just look like a rear wheel drive car.

Awesome.. An update. Sucks about the gas/brake pedal issue. But the craftsmanship on the tunnel is top notch. How are you going to work the trans mount?

PS; Why the fuck isnt this stickied?

Why did you go so heavy duty on the trans tunnel?  Some bent sheet metal would saved some weight and money...

This is what's so great about this build, this car can do pretty much anything and be very good at it. I'd expect this to thrash people in autox and even lap days on a bigger circuit. I'm sure suspension set up will take some time to get right but that's fun stuff.

ps. super jealous of your fab skills, fucken dope.

Why did you go so heavy duty on the trans tunnel?  Some bent sheet metal would saved some weight and money...

because i value life.  removing that section of the original exhaust tunnel is like taking out a key structural portion of the car.  if i were to get into any kind of collision, a plain sheet metal tunnel would fold up like paper without proper reinforcement.  you have to remember, i still have to cut out the e-brake section too for the driveshaft... basically i'm cutting the belly of the car in half.  without some sort of rigid support it would make it pretty weak and prone to flexing.  eventually there will probably be a cage put in, but not right away.  also, keep in mind the tranny mount is part of the tunnel as well, so it needs to atleast hold the ass end of the drivetrain without moving excessively.

i don't think weight will be much of a factor in a car that is 2100lbs to begin with and is going to have 450whp on tap.

as for saving money, $25 worth of steel is a good investment for piece of mind.

Any proper spaceframe car has a transmission tunnel built like that.

the tranny tunnel is complete.  for now it is just tacked in place.  i want to pull the mockup drivetrain out to weld it in fully.  i'm going to have to patch up a couple spots where there are small gaps, but i don't think it is too serious.

i threw the dash and the steering wheel back in just for reference.  if i can modify the center console to fit over the tunnel, i will.

not much of an update, but the tunnel is 99% welded in.  i've been doing some body work on smoothing out the engine bay.  i really dislike doing this stuff.  i'm not very good with bondo, but here is the bay all primed up.  i still need to smooth over a couple spots, then the primer sealer will go on and some paint.  i'm planning on further reinforcing the firewall once the paint is dry.

and here is an intake manifold that i'm building to go on someone else's f20c, but will probably make a second for my own.
