Security Camera for the house? *NWS*
« on: March 30, 2009, 09:10:06 PM »

Alright, well a few weeks ago some dipshit broke in my house and stole some money and my digital camera. They tried coming through the door and couldn't break the shit, so they finally pulled a window unit A/C out and came in through the back/side of the house. Even left that way too... Well, for temporary I boarded up all the windows so that the only way in is through the door, and to get through it they'd have to break the glass and then reach in and unlock it, which I guess isn't very secure. Though they spent a WHILE trying to break the lock itself last time and failed, while never breaking the glass.

But anyways I want to put up some cameras in the house for peace of mind. So if this ever happens again, I'll have there ass on video and hopefully catch the sorry bastard. Have a funny feeling it's a neighbor that did it as they broke in when I wasn't here, on the one day out of the week when I'm gone the longest. I'd like at least 2 cameras in the house, maybe one outside too. And something setup to record all the time.

I looked ebay and found this. Probably a rip-off of a name brand system or something.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=270300527643

Probably cheap, but dunno if it's junk or what. I'd also need something setup to record with too. Seems you can use a computer to do it, which would be good I suppose. It doesn't have to be fancy either, I just want a 2-3 cameras recording all the time. I can see to it that the system is hidden and locked out of sight in a secure location. I've seen some bullet cameras before, those would probably be better and easier to hide too.

Thoughts?

A motion light in the camera's line of sight would work also.  So when these guys break into your house and steal your computer they're still getting away without being caught on video right?  Or do those record to a separate, external HDD?  I didn't feel like reading the whole auction description.

They do come with motion sensors, and yeah, they can record to a computer. If I bought this, I'd get an old computer with a big hard drive to record with, and lock it up in a dead closet space in the house.

If you still have a window mounted air conditioner, you qualify as:

-Not having anything worth stealing
-Not needing to put security cameras so high on your priority list.

It's pretty clear these thieving faggots are low level, and should easily be caught at the end of a barrel.

Who needs to be tittie fukcing a girl when she has a vagina? I guess I'll never understand that. All I need are some decently firm nips. Maybe I've just not got to the age where the women I screw can fist themselves.

I'd stay away from the cheap cameras. Even the more expensive units have poor quality, you almost need a decent camcorder to do the work if you want to see faces. There's many better alternatives, besides an alarm. Get some phony ADT stickers, and set up a basic alarm up. They're about the same price as the camera system, and will thwart 99% of amatures.

The other thing is to scribe your name in hidden places on your expensive stuff, then take pictures. If you EVER catch someone with a marked item, they'll be going down hard.

I agree 100%. If I had been here when they broke in, they would be a dead motherfucker. But like I said, they did this at the 'perfect' time while I wasn't here. Hence I think someone who lives nearby did it, or as mentioned above someone who was paying attention and knew when I wouldn't be here.

And as you imagine, this place is nothing. Small 50 year old house. I do my best to live lo-key. The place appears to have nothing. I have nothing that's worth anything really. A laptop and a nice stereo. That's it. But there's a lot of tools and whatnot inside that are worth something. But now they ALL have my name engraved in them in multiple places.

In some ways, I have a feeling it was a kid that broke in. They were obviously stupid. Fucker spent at least 2-3 minutes trying to break the lock on my door when he could of picked up the hammer *laying in the toolbox outside, next to the door*, broke the glass, unlocked it, and walked in in 5 seconds. But he didn't. Once he got in, he still left through the same window too... Camera was next to a 2k dollar laptop and money was in front of a high dollar stereo.

I could further lock this bitch down and make it more difficult for a thief to get in. The camera idea was just to possibly catch the mother fucker. Or I could get a dog, but I'm not sure I want a dog. Maybe, it's a thought none the less.

Save yourself all the trouble and just bait the guy to come back. Leave him dying in a pool of his own shit and piss, and then run out to the driveway and pound your chest like Conan. Once the news media shows up, your house is on lockdown.  :noel:

 :( :( :( :( :( :(

Someone broke in the house next door to mine that we also own and rent out. They broke in a window, stole all his change, and two guns. Police did everything they could, but couldn't find any fingerprints on the window. And that window was CLEAN too. Said the guy had to have wore gloves. They did get a palm print from the dresser where the change was stolen, so they'll compare that to the owners own palm print to see if it's anything.

FUCK I HATE A GOD DAMN THIEF!!!!!!!!!!!
This is beyond fucked up. And I'm sure it was the same low life motherfucker that broke in my house 2 weeks ago. Grrrrrrr.

Update again:

And they tried to break in my house too. Just found a torn screen on a window on the back of the house and a footprint in the muddy grass. The police did another report and they're pulling the footprint right now.

You can get decent quality webcams cheaply, and there are SEVERAL applications that will record them to HD as well as upload them to a remote FTP.

Yeah, I may need to do that. Or I might anyways. Gonna have to find/buy/build a cheap tower with a huge fucking hard drive I guess. And buy a web cam and whatever else it takes to make it record. I have deluxe hosting with godaddy for my website. Is I possible I could set it up to record to that all the time?

Just spend an hour with a flashlight looking around the window the tried to break in on my house and the other house looking for a hair that could have fallen from their body. No luck. Might go get a big magnifying glass and try again though. I mean couldn't the cops do something if I found a hair? I dunno, I ain't a COP but that would have their DNA in it.

small tits are ok too  :P

id get network cameras, as in wifi  with an address so you can log into them from whereever... well actually i dont know how much that would help but its cool anyways

id probly concentrate on making your house more  O0 proof.    motion activated lights, bars on easy to climb in windows,  big shitty dog,  id rather keep them the fuck out then have some probly worthless video you can give the cops when you do get jacked, then probly shit wont happen anyways.

shit get those window and door alarms, there like $2 or maybe even a real security system, whenever i get my own place people are gona think meth head muguyver lives there, probly have all kinds of traps and alarms

o ya, i used to have one of those X10 2.4ghz wireless cams at my front door. it worked ok as long as there was enough light..  u want to pay attention to the "lux" rating of the cameras for low-light recording

And yall I have no idea how fucking pissed I am about this. It just pisses me the FUCK OFF! Talked to the police officers and they said crime has been going up up up for the last year. Said we aren't alone. He suggested I get an alarm for the house. But I dunno, I've seen a lot of alarms not work, or it goes off but it takes 1/2 hr. for the police to arrive. Seen that Sooooooo many times that I'm pretty hesitant to put an alarm up.
