SO, had a guy at work ask if i could pull the 6.9L Diesel Ford and install a 7.3L that he picked up for some outrageous price out of a UHaul that had rolled....doing the swap tonight, had to change motor mounts and oil cooler, as I pulled off oil cooler, i noticed no water but all oil. Looked in the port for the antifreeze and saw chunks of metal, removed oil pan and found this in the oil pan...

First thing i noticed was the large wrist pin...

continued to investigate and pulled this out

Piston Fragged

Cylinder wall...yah, thats a crack

SO, now this guy i work with wants me to put the original 6.9L back in, and he's out the 2 Grand he paid for the motor plus the money he owes me for my time invested...bummer

Whoa sorry didn't mean to make the pix so big...nah, rod was still kinda in place...not sure if it overheated, broke the cylinder wall, then piston, either way its a boat anchor now...
note: drain oil before installin/ pullin old motor...save ya a few hours

The motor probably was fine until you undertorqued one of the oil pan bolts when you were inspecting the bottom end, resulting in the damage in the photographs.

HAHA LOL I think it overheated to the point that it cracked the cylinder wall...detonated the piston...i hate fords and everything about them, this thing was a pain in the ass but the guy who owns it said it was guaranteed to run....gonna do us some Montana justice and go get the money back or tie the block to the guys leg and go throw it in a lake
