If you ever worked for an insurance company you would know they, along with the doctors, are some of the biggest scam artist ever. I'm interested in how this plays out. Poor people who can't afford insurance sure as hell aren't going to find magical money to pay for it all of a sudden. I can GUARANTEE you this though; if I am forced to get health insurance I will rape it sideways and sell my RX's to pay for it.

I worked for an insurance company and I can tell you doctors will rip you off 100 times over. You know how many claims we got that people would dispute and we would turn over as fraud. Dr would simply call us to say that it was a billing error....it funny how many calls we NEVER got with the doctor telling us of their billing errors we weren't made aware of by the customer.

Then you have doctors that send patients to do needless test. We would often flag claims when we would get billed for xrays, MRIs, cat scans, etc etc for the same billing code as things that had NOTHING to do with these services. Then when they use those two gloves to examine you want to guess how many they bill the insurance for? A whole box. Yep they use two and charge for a hundred. This is the main reason insurance companies are A) Shitty and deny claims left and right B) Charge out the ass for coverage

I'm interested to see what happens with this. I can't say for certain i think it's a huge waste of money and will fail to do anything. But i have my worries.  

Also i still can't understand how/why health insurance is so different from car insurance? why are annual check up's and med's covered in insurance? You don't see your car insurance covering oil changes and other monthly maintanence items?

I always wondered why people were so angry at the insurance compay when they had a loved one who got cancer and died and they couldn't afford the care. Well if you had your policy set up for a "worst case senario" you coudl have asay a $5k-10k deductable and it would have higher coverage. but wouldn't cover all the small bull shit like doctor check up's.

and dental/vision is even more stupid.

Because checkups and meds are a better investment for the insurance company. Say you go for a checkup; they find out you have x disease. They caught it early and treat it with meds that you now have to take the rest of your life and insurance covers part of them as well.

Now say you don't; you end up having an episode and have to go to get transported to the er via ambulance, then they run countless test on you. They find out you have x disease and give you meds the rest of your life which insurance covers part of.

In the end the outcome is the same in both those situations, but that $200 office visit just up to a $1000+ ambulance ride and $1000+ ER bill.

T what I think most conservatives don't understand, is that capitalism is based on the idea of competition. That, in itself isn't the real problem so much as the lack of understanding of the fundamentals of "competition." Competition exists through separate entities trying to achieve a goal before or to a greater magnitude than another entity.

But look at any other form of competition in human society- do we allow athletes to referee themselves? To call their own fouls and penalties? No, we employ a 3rd party to ensure that rules are followed and to regulate the pace of the competiton. The nature of competition REQUIRES 3rd party regulation.

Without 3rd party regulation, rules cannot be enforced.
Without rules, we have anarchy.
With anarchy, freedom comes at the whim of the guy with the biggest gun/most money. Life ends up "nasty, brutish and short."
