Does suck. WTD is in April for S2ki and I've paid for everything already. Tons of awesome roads in the area though. Triple digits on the Skyway are pretty fun if it's thawed, and there are less bikes on all the little streets no one knows about. I will miss the night runs me and my buddies make on the dragon though. We usually have it to ourselves in the early a.m. and run it wtfo.  All the dates are speculative anyway until the contract is awarded.

I'll show you the roads us locals run if you want.  The Dragon's cool for a short stretch, but it's not all that and has been heavily policed for a few years now.

Back ten years ago we used to do 5am runs down Country Club aka the Asheville Autobahn, it's a residential drive with a bunch of long sweepers and a few tight corners that's about as upscale as you can get withough being one of the mountaintop sub-developments we get hereabouts.  Think half strength Beverly Hills.  I know for a fact NOBODY's done that in at least three years, should be good for a few laughs as long as we have something loud in the lead position to clear out any joggers.

Sounds good. My AP1 with the silencer pulled is loud as hell. :) I know it will still be a good time. There's a few guys I usually make runs with that have been driving the area forever. I'm all ears on the routes though. i think everyone is looking for fun roads. I may just go hunting with the gps and google maps too.

The best dragon runs I had where last September in the pouring rain. Had it all to myself.

If you guys want we can try to have a local forum meet at the same time, which means you guys get fed and then run around with us thru the coolest roads we know and love.  We also have a guy who will outdrive 95% of the meet in an 08 Jeep Cherokee, it will make you titter like a schoolgirl to witness.

Dragon is not as fun as some of the roads around it.  Just the most famous, at least in my opinion.  Depending on the meet, I may be able to ride down during R&R and Henry you guys.

QFT.  The dragon is for tourists and motards.

The dragon is nothing compared to 151.  People die on the dragon, but only the locals dare to run up/down 151 at speed...

BRP is fun as well

We cruise on the BRP, because its federal court if you get caught speeding/racing.  There are better/safer places to run fast in the Appalachians.

We attempted to make a list at one point of all the fun, twisty roads here in western NC, but we decided it would take too long and gave up.

151 between BRP and 23? Looks fun. Me and the wife are planning on spending our first two days at fontana just doing our own thing. I'll be searching Google maps for anything that looks twisty and heading that way.

Take it easy on 151.  Its 2 feet narrower than the dragon and almost every turn is off camber, with gravel, debris, state troopers, etc. in your way.

I like the curvy parts of hwy 28 near fontana village.  It ends at the beginning of the dragon.  The skyway is cool, and there is a semi hidden road from the end of the dragon at the lake to Gatlinburg thats a good drive with NOTHING on it for 15-20 miles, you can be triple digits most of the way.

Hit me or JD up when you get here, we'll have a drink or something.

Will do. 28 is a good road. Skyway is more fun to me than the dragon. Way more speed. I'm headed out there the 22nd of april and will be there until sunday afternoon. I'll have to meet up with you guys.
