Few questions, So far the only thing i have done to my 06 cummins is a AFE intake, Silencer ring MIA and 2" Leveling kit on the front.

Airdog system? Anyone care to enlighten me a little bit on that? It just takes air etc out of the fuel, any experience?

Also, the amsoil dual filter bypass system, anyone know anything about that?
Any other things i should be looking in to? Im not trying to make a ton of power, Just want to make sure it runs healthy for the 3500 mile drive back to wa state.

Info on the truck, 06 ram 2500 quad cab, White, body has 121,000 and longblock has 29,000 on it.

Airdog or Fass or ect... are just aftermarket fuel pumps, most also have big hiway truck style fuel filters attached. The stock pump is adequate for stock power, but the added filtration is nice. It is a toss up depending on what kind of power you want to make. There are cheaper ways to get the same thing, but it takes some time and effort, lots of used ones that come up for sale when guys jump to bigger pumps.

Amsoil dual bypass allows you to run longer between oil changes, as there is more filtering media to deal with crap. I personally have never run one so can't say much about them either way.

A full turbo back exhaust is worth a couple ponies and a bit in fuel mileage, but I don't know if the cash out lay is worth the outcome to you. Lots of guys just straight pipe the Cat and call it good enough.

If it is an auto, at minimum I would get a good converter and a shift kit. It will make all the difference in the world. Stock Dodge transmissions barley hold stock power.

Programmers and sticks are where the power lies, but you need to know what you want out of the truck before we go down that road. Most programmers like a smarty, will give you an increase in fuel mileage as they give you a bump in timing, also has top speed limiter increase, and tire size adjustment ect... and of course power.

If this is just a pre trip get ready thing, I would just change the oil, change the fuel filter, buy a spare fuel filter in case you get crap fuel along the way, and head out. A fuel pressure gauge is a nice thing to have, as these injection pumps need a nice supply of fuel or they will burn out.

I think that covers it?

Well for now im not trying to make a ton of power, atleast until i do something to the transmission as i hear they are the weakest link. Literally.  I just changed the fuel filter before the drive over here but its easy enough to change it so i will change it again.

I was thinking about getting a pillar and getting a fuel pressure gauge and boost gauge.

last i knew, bigger trans coolers were available for them, this is a few years ago though (03-04) and it seemed to prolong the life of the 48RE...

You have to upgrade the tranny ASAP! read my other post in your other thread

Get a shift kit ASAP and re-adjust the bands with billet strut as they tend to just fall apart.

Then Lift pump.

The one thing I like about the edge chip is having all most all of your gauges right there. and its cheaper then just 3 of the gauges listed.

Other then that dvst8r pretty much hit the nail on the head.


You DO NOT need an exhaust on it (atleast for awhile). They come 4 inch stock, cut the muffler and Cat out of it and you will be fine and notice a very nice jump in power.

If you need I have 5 feet of 4 inch aluminized tubing left. I think you should still have my number hit me up if you need anything.

Bud of mine starightpiped his exhaust(cut out cat and muffler), intake, programmer, and torque converter and put down 461 to the wheels in his '06 Cummins. No other fuel work, and he still goes through a transmission a year, even built ones from a specialty shop

I don't let out till the water temp starts to move, that and most of the CR melt downs I have seen have had clean exhaust and have read "in the safe area" 1300F or less on the pyro anyway.

The edge is good for the gauges built in but i personally would run gauges and a smarty. You can just straight pipe the exhaust but it sounds like wet lesbian pussy farts. The only exhaust i would do is a 5". There are some control boxes for the trans that make them last a bit longer but if you are after power then it's time for a good converter. Don't buy purple (ats) trans parts.

You dont need it unless you are after good power (additives) sulfur additives are really good for lube and smoke too.

Tranny parts i havn't been able to break ( buy the 2500 dollar kit w/ converter )

I don't think you followed what I said. A fill up is 100L and I always add a litre of 2 stroke oil, and every 4th fill up i run a litre of atf instead of 2 stroke oil. The atf keeps the ve pumps clean as fuck.
