Times are tough and about to move soon. I'm keeping the 90 hf that had the built motor in it. That will be another thread in a few weeks. PBT Spec Kay twenty four.

Going for a streetable single cam in this bad boy.

Consisting of....

-d15b vtec block with p08's
-Y8 vtec head
-PBT 74mm TB/spacer/im combo
-will send another head for Chris to port. (This will be last on the list)
-crower valvetrain.
-looking to source Akmee cam (probably go crower 3 cam)
-tri-Y sohc header (will get my old buddy to see what he can do) DTR fab
-2.5" exhaust

Hopefully I can break 14's with a sohc. I did it a while back when I had a stock A6 in my old race car body when the 2L gsr was getting built. Ran 14.1 with just a header and cold air. Car gutted to shit with lexan windows and pipes for rear suspension. Lol.

If i was to do a another set of diy cycle itb's for a sohc I would use the busa ones. 45mm plates. With a crower stage 2/3 and a good head I dont see why 150 whp cant be achieved on stock 1.5/1.6 bottom ends. Of course you will need to piston to valve check on the stage 3. the stage 2 cleared d15b vtec pistons no problem.

I have a set of busa ones bored out to 48mm plates I did awhile back if I ever did a street 1.6 dohc vtec which these may end up on the b16b. if not they will collect dust with all the other I lost motivation wierdo idea stuff I do. Maybe Ill have them next to the welded d16z6/d16a6 chamber heads to remind me never to throw time/money into a d series all motor build again.

I also have another set of busa's un touched. No flip nog boring out the cycle itb's will not be cheap. Consider my crack head pricing already x4

Well the b16b is planned to get a oem type r manifold cut/ported/welded back together. Composite spacer and a 83mm throttle body. The blowbench will tell me hands down the itb's lose with that setup atleast the cycle itb's.

If I had the luxury of time I would play around with the 48mm units but well thats not the case.

Oh the crower stage 2 ran pretty hard in a stock d15b vtech's. I approve of this choice.

Stage 3 I have not played around with and it seems not to many people have and those who have dont seem to share on the interwebz.

Hey did you leave the y8 cam gear on the y8 head, just wondering cause i put a y7 head on my block with the 88 - 95 cam gear, i heard that the y7/y8 gear advances or retards the cam half a tooth so you had to put on the 88 - 95 cam gear.

If your are using  y8 head w/ cam gear use a y8 gear. If you have to use any other gear then use an adjustable timing and adv. it 4.5deg in respect to the cam. (9deg in respect to the crank) ;

D I did the adjustable cam route it was a lot easier.

Look at: http://www.d-series.org/forums/engine-building/41363-y8-cam-w-z6-sprocket-z6-cam-w-y8-sprocket.html

Look at first photo attachment.

This thread helped me out.

Knowing that flipnog has done this before he probably knows this already.

this car actually had my stock a6 block and y8 head in the beginning.  i timed it the best that i could.  distributor was almost fully advanced at this time.  this was with a 88-95 cam gear

i do have the y8 gear on it now and i can leave the distributor around the middle area.

all sohc vtak cams are the same.  its keyway indexing thats different on the gears.
