My luck is horrid
« on: July 04, 2010, 12:13:33 PM »

On the way to the U.P. in Michigan. Largest Budget rental truck available, STUFFED with shop equipment, pulling the SVO, an 87 Chevy truck (514cid Cadillac/th400) loaded down pulling an 02 GT shell, and my sentra being driven by the wife.
We are in Louisville, KY. The clutch shit the bed in the Sentra, during highway driving at 65. Not while raping it, or even close thereafter. So we just unloaded the SVO, and loaded the sentra on the dolly. Pulled into a motel 6 for the day (been driving since 8 last night).
This fucking clutch is going to take my "get it tuned" money, goddammit. Or I could just stick a fucking XTD in it, AND get a good tune.

How does your clutch just "go out"?  :?:

I have never understood that. Do you like not maintain your car or what? I mean highway driving isn't exactly tough on a car and the clutch just couldn't hold all that power cruising at 65mph?

It need clutch fluid or cable tightened (depending on the clutch setup). ;D

Bah, it's no big deal. It's a clutch, that wasn't adjusted correctly. What does that possibly have to do with a honda running on 3 cylinders? Everyone has crazy tough motor stories, it's nothing unusual. I drove my old ranger the last 30k of its life with 0 compression (completely burnt exhaust valve) on cyl 4.
Still in Louisville, lost the keys to the 87 chevy, somehow. This trip just gets better by the hour. If I can't find them in the morning with daylight, a screwdriver will start it.
   Anyone near by?

If anyone wants to meet up and grab some beverages, or whatever, I'm down for that. I'm not on a tight schedule anymore. The buddy that is moving, just left the hotel with the rental truck and my car in tow headed to MI, as he has a time line to keep b/c of the rental. I've got to track down a Wachovia around here before I head out tomorrow, screwdriver the ignition switch in the truck if I can't find the keys, and run a thorough check of both vehicles.
I'm thinking of moving up there myself. Depending how much money I have to spend to move, and fix the car, and then detour by your place JD for a tune. Bright side is highway cruising yields EXCELLENT fuel mileage in the sentra. Small fuel tank, and still had only used 3/4 tank at the 400 mile mark. That is amazing to me.

In Lansing, MI now.
Stuck.
Thankfully we made it to the in laws, even if we had to detour.
There are NO Wachovia/Wells Fargo banks anywhere within 10 hours of here.
They will not transfer funds to my Regions account.
I'm about to say fuck it, and overdraft the shit out of my Regions account to make it to the U.P
