Finally got to the dragstrip, disappointed..
« on: August 07, 2010, 02:27:03 AM »

On the way to the track was messing with the the boost control settings. Set the high to 1.7 bar, and low to 1 bar. Checked both, and everything was good to go. First pass, I noticed I wasn't getting over about 7-8 psi. Noticed that it was on low boost (but still wasn't hitting a full 14). So next pass I made sure it was on high boost, but still wasn't getting over 7-8 psi. Made a few more passes and still the same thing. So I started checking shit out with my little shitty light, and found a hole in a coupler. Tried to tape it up with some strapping tape I had in the trunk. Pulled about 20 psi for just a second through the burnout, and blew through the tape.
Car was on some 195 wide street tires, boosting 8 psi at best, trunk full of shit, and my wife in the car. Ran 14.2 at 103, with a 2.4 short time. I feel it has mid 12's in it on the other street tires i have (215 falken's) on the t25. I really think with a good turbo and some sticky tires mid 11's can be expected.

white 92 sentra se-r
highport sr20det ( JDM yo bluebird)
eagle rods, JE pistons (8.5), arp studs (rods, mains, head bolts), mild head porting, n62 maf, q45 throttle body, stock mani, t25, medium sized front mount, 3" turbo back into a magnaflow fart can, emanage, other stupid bullshit I can't think of ATM,

I also have another black 92 se-r also with a bluebird sr. It's mostly stock, just a front mount and 14 psi. It's been 13.1 at 110-112. But the shell is pretty rusty (came from Louisville), and looking for a donor shell to make the wife a nice car with.

Yes Chris, I actually have a car!

Street trim, to the fullest, lol. She only rode twice, but it made no difference. I gave up trying for a decent time after the tape failed on the coupler, and just ran for fun. The staging lanes were empty, it's not like I waited all night to make a shit run.

thats a cool swap. i remeber a local guy had one running a t28 at 18psi on meth, yet my crx destroyed him with a d16a1 and a 75 shot. get some new couplers and some real tires and then some good times. street tires suck. any plans to make it faster?

A t28 b13 should be pretty quick. It's not uncommon for the t25 to go deep in the 12's, so with a decent driver, and tires, high 11's should have been possible from that car bro. But you have that weight advantage also...

Looking at going with a hy35, or hx40, with a decent mani, some delta regrinds (11mm 272 dur), some good valvesprings, and build a short runner intake, implementing some ideas I have ripped off others.  Then when funds allow, I will get rid of that glass like tranny and use the 6 speed from a Spec-V/ v6 maxima. Just need to get the tranny, and the belhousing from a jdm qr20 that mates to that tranny. then modify the firewall and pedal for a hydro clutch. That tranny and axles will take 600+ on slicks right out of the box. Just need about $1500 just to get that tranny and axles in.

From what I've seen, the tranny's become a problem after 300 HP if you are drag racing?

Any solutions for that?

that's pretty much the concensus. Some say that the b14 (96-00) sentra is a little stronger, but not much. That's what is in the white one, but I've seen alot of those brokem with less than what I'm running. Which is why I stay on street tires. I can't afford to replace a tranny right now. And even with the t25, I'm dangerously close to that magic 300 that breaks shit. The box from a b15 sentra (2000-06) with the sr20 is pretty decent to about 400-450. But I still wouldn't chance bolting slicks to that, or launching in boost. Especially after I get something bigger than the t25, b/c I SHOULD be able to push close to 600 on the internals, after the head work anyway. The 6 speed box is damn near indestructable, and about the only thing nissan got right with the Spec-V's powertrain. And that looks as if it's gonna have to be my choice , if I don't want to redo shit.

Is that...could it be? A JRC intercooler? That brings back memories...both good and bad.
