J swap 4dr
« on: November 01, 2011, 11:08:30 AM »

So sometime back my older brother pick up a 99 4dr dx. It was his DD for a while, and while the stock 130k y7 ran good and got good mpg he got bored quick. He started thinking of the usale stuff, boosted D, then came built and Boosted D, then B, ect. After a while og going back and forth he made up his mind on a J swap. When he price it out it was going to be cheaper then a k swap but with a lot more balls. After saving up for some time the parts started coming in. The motor is a J35 of of a 03 odessy, Tl 6spd trans with lsd, hybrid racing shifter box, and hasport mounts to name a few. Well lets get into some pic's.

Tl 6spd trans with Lsd

Motor and trans

Moding the stock hasport tans mount. A lot of people have broken this mount and the trans at the track.

Cutting 1/4 steal plate with a cut of wheel :-X

So after hours of cutting welding, and grinding it was done.

After the trans side was taken car of next came the Engine bracket. Due to the extra weight, and tq of the J compared to the K the some guys have bent this to. So moding time part 2.

You can't forget the BBQ paint.

This is what I think about hasport right now,

More to come later!

I must say I REALLY hate when I get this arrrrrrrrrr, "You have included 50 images in your message. You are limited to using 8 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the BB code

Stock hood before being cut.

On its way out.

The baller door

The bad boy :noel:

Hybrid racing shift box, damn box was more then the motor :P

Getting her nice and high.

Then she was out.

Slow y7.

Onto the mounts.

Spot weld drilling starts.

Then the bitch was gone.

Test fitting the bracket, and marking the 2 top wholes to be drilled.

Next was removing the rad tabs to be relocated. Man do I hate drilling spot welds!

Work space.

Old school pimp sears air compressor bitch is super quite.

And back to some more drilling.

Moving on.

Modding the shifter leaver.

Home made pin which was a bolt that was cut, welded, and drilled to make a new location for the shifter cable.

Thats it for now, more to come later!

Im glad somone bump this, been so busy kind of forgot about this post hahaha

DAMN im fucking SLCAKING on up dates. car has been done for a bit. Its running hard for a stock motor. well enough talk on to the pic's and rippers!

Stock fuel lines!

The cut!

J swap and the smaller D!

So i'm curious, has he ran against any other cars or down the 1320? Is this faster than most k-series swaps?

I realized I had posted this on another form which made it easy. :noel:

He walk away from a few K power 95hb. We ran it, he pulled away from a dead stop against my boosted D, high way run we where side by side until I hit 4th were I pulled away hard at that point its all top end were my sohc is king. This is on a all stock motor with a few bolt ons, the tq these motors make is crazy. Plan is to turbo it once Don from rpm systems drops his new ecu, Hx-35 and crank it to 20psi

I'd be scared of water in/on my engine harness.  Pack the connectors/plugs with dielectric, please.

You can get cheap 2" cowls, pop rivet to stock hood and mud in.  I've always liked the straightforward Mustang cowl look (vs the fancy shit that's mostly rice other makes get), and the one Civic I saw with one looked almost decent (guys at dyno day remember the car) but it was non-functional and therefore like fingernails on the chalkboard of my soul.

Dielectric grease was the first thing we did to the harness when we got it!

Don from ROM systems is the MAN! I forgot how much was it, the trans was around 1k. For the price of the trans we could have bought 3 motors. :P

With that said we had a slight issue with reverse witch was due to the lock out switch not being hook up. Not sure if i took pictures, but these trans are SUPER beefy. Gears are super thick, side by side with my type r trans and it puts it to shame.

Shift box is kind of pointless. Main reason my brother got it was he didnt want to cut into the car. Other then that I hate the company!

J37 intake mani is the best for power and clearance. With that said unless you have PERFECT flat roads you DO NOT want to have the new lower mounts as you $$$$ trans is so low to the ground its just retarded!
