Yes let me tell you how I sympathize for you, I woke up to -51c (-60f) this morning in this god forsaken place. It is so cold your spit cracks when it hits the ground. Stuck in Honolulu for a couple of days must be terrible.

I saw temps like that in the Red Desert part (Wamsutter ) of Wyoming back in the mid '90s.

I was at a site where Enron was experimenting w/ horizontal drilling for gas exploration.

I was sent to a location dubbed "Siberia Ridge" and it was -45F w/ -120F wind chills.

That was the coldest I ever wanted to experience. The '85 K5 Blazer I was driving could not keep heat in the cabin.

Had to block off all of the radiator to keep enough heat in the cooling system to get heat.

We don't work very hard when it is that cold either. It is 5min of work, 20-25min of sitting in a warm truck. It still sucks, but like they said I don't live there, just work there. Though home isn't much warmer right now.

Yup trucks run on high idle all day, with a piece of cardboard covering the whole rad, just to try and keep heat in the cab. I'm just glad I'm not drilling on the north slope, or in the arctic. I can do this temp for a couple days to a week, without much bother. But month's straight would get to me.

Finally made it to manila. Tomorrow morning will be heading out to Tacloban where I am going. If I get the urge to take a shit on any of the women in Tacloban I will get pics for you. I dont really expect to get the urge though so dont hold your breath.
