What? I degred the cam to try and figure out what I have. I had no idea what it was so I degreed it to see what was happining. It will work for now. I'll upgrade later.

Lol, no. If I were doing that I wouldn't just be using stamped rockers. I just didn't know what cam I had, and I would like to have found out b4 I fired it up to find out that it's a dog. Now I know it will be a dog...lol

Only problem with that is I still have the press in head studs, and I don't know what the stall on my converter is o I'm kinda limited for now.

Well, sticking with the cam I have for now.

but it will work. Got the whole top end assmbled yesterday, now I just need to install my oil pump and pickup tube once it shows up. So it will probably be next weekend b4 I get the motor in.

Well its been slow going on the build. Been real busy, but have accomplished a few small things.

Got some parts in. Also Painted the aluminum intake because I hate the way they look once the get dirty.

Also ordered some centercaps, and the special Dorman lug nuts to fit my wheels, and my thread pitch

Motor all together, just needed the mid shaft for the oil pump, and had to drill and tap the block for the support for the oil pickup tube.

Got the motor mounts bolted in

And here is the motor as it sits today.

So now I'm at the point where I'm ready to try and drop the motor and trans in. But if corse I'm about out of money and I found out that the rebuilt th400 that I picked up is a truck trans and I will have to pick up a special yoke, and Dennys driveshafts are currently out of stok on them. So I'm thinking I might just try and pick up a powerglide locally off of craigslist for cheap and I won't have to have the driveline shortened or make a new crossmember either. But on the otherhand I'm stuck with a 2 speed transmission. :-/

The thing about the powerglide is it bolts right in, and I'm done for now if I go with the th400 I have to

Make linkage
Make crossmember
Buy detent for steering column
Get special yoke
Shorten driveshaft
Beat in the tunnel to make room for th400

The main thing is the cost of all the parts right now....

Cheapest I found the special driveshaft yoke thatI need is 109 + shipping, and they are out of stock. So yeah, $50 and some work so I can sell it....lol

Probably gonna pick the trans up if dude emails me his number so I can pick it up. Its only $100 and then I can sell it when I'm done using it. Just like a crx.

That's the one I need to run the th400 truck trans in the car with a fixed driveshaft rather than a truck driveshaft.

Ok, I'll check. I know we had one at the shop. When my dad bought his Nova, there was a turbo 400 out of a truck in it but he swapped it to a M22 4 speed.

Well, I went and picked up a pg for $100 with torque converter. Gonna try and slap the motor and trans in tomorrow if all goes right.

Asked my dad about that yoke. Turns out, there was never a driveshaft hooked up so it appears someone was in the same predicament.

Motor and powerglide is in! Oil is in, and engine is primed. Trans and torque converter all bolted up, but for the life of me I couldn't find the plate that bolts between the engine and trans. So I read a couple of places online that some people run without them. So everything lined up great so fuck it. Got the hood bolted on and and to weld the trans crossmember because the weld was cracked. Anyways, onto the pics....

Maybe I'm thinking ford. Its the only other v8 I've done major stuff to. This is the first sbc I've ever really fucked with.

Not a "plate" but there is a cover that goes around the converter between the engine and trans.
