Milling block deck and cam timing
« on: March 08, 2009, 05:17:06 PM »

If I mill the block deck ~0.01 to 0.02 in what should adjust my cam offset by?

My setup

D16z6 block
D16z6 3-layer head gasket
D16y8 head
Vitaras 0.5mm o/s
TT rods with new rod bolts

SC14 supercharger and later a T04b s-trim turbo or something larger for a twincharge setup.

Acccording to the http://www.zealautowerks.com/dseries.html I would have too mill 0.02in
of block to get 8.0:1 comp which I think I may need b/c I live at elev. of 5000ft and higher.

I remeber reading somewhere a while back that for every 0.010 milled of your suppose to offset the cam timing a degree or two. but I do not remember the source.

Can you elaborate a litte more on how you did this? You used a ign. timing lite to check your cam timing? ???

D series 1mm (.039") = 1 degree

I remember seeing that some where?

I am assuming cam timing you are refering to.
