Mfactory LSD K20 problem...
« on: April 11, 2014, 06:14:48 PM »

Hi there! im installing a MFactory to a K20Z Civic 06+ tranny, installed new bearings and when i going "sit" LSD it touch with countershaft bearing.. what's wrong with that? Bearings are Koyo 6208CM GSR that came with Mfactory LSD.

Maybe i need any shims? or pull off a bit top bearing?  ???

Does it use roller bearings?  I've never seen inside a K series tranny before so IDK...

If it used roller bearings maybe they are pressed on too far?

Looks like it needs to be shimmed.

Waiting for "Chuck`s" enigmatic one word answer to your problem.  Thought the expert would have chimed in by now.

Do you have the correct differential bearings on this LSD? If I am right the shim isn`t on that side of the case anyway which makes me think you have the wrong diff bearings on there.

.001 to .010 "   is what you want for the shims. Shim should be on pass side pop seal off a d measure. You can't put the bearings on too far... only not far enough... your install is fucked up somehow.

I don't know shit about k series, but you said you're using GSR bearings?
Are those supposed to be interchangeable with a k?

I know b16/ls bearings are a different width then gsr bearings (the inside race at least).  Fucks alot of people up in the B series world.

Large bearing D series/B16/LS/K all use same diff bearings.

My first K....not allowed to show the LSD used....one of one in the USA....NOT MFactory....

Other than needing a press for the shafts (I got by without one) and having to cut the diff bearing apart to get speedo ring gear off, it was easy.

New 1-R-2 sleeve along with carbon synchro for second....
