Its time to do a fresh rebuild on the car, and i was wondering where i can get a reliable thick head gasket. I have been using OEM, but i want to go with a thicker one to lower the comp just a little bit and give myself a little more breathing room with the pistons and valves. Its a b18c1 stock 81mm bore.

its been 3 years since the last rebuild and with the car being shipped on a boat, i want to just redo some things now that i have time. Also where do you get your cosmetic head gaskets from?

But how many miles did you put on in that 3 years. I know it was stateside for most of it. And you were a broad.

It's called the internet.....lol I've always ordered them from ebay. Just look up the number on your gasket and then Google that number. Most the time sellers on ebay have the best prices.

I have put maybe 5k on it and another 5k when i was gone. My only issue is i have to redo all my vac lines and some others after it got to me after the long boat ride. I just want to make sure everything is looking great, and i seem to be loosing water so I'm guessing the head gasket. Its only like 5 hours of work and like 300 bucks. I have no issues spending it. I need like a .050 head gasket since both my head and block have been decked. Jut didn't know if anyone dealt with a great company.

So then you don't really need a rebuild. You need to figure out where your loosing water at first.

Went for a drive last night and this happened. Looks like i really need a rebuild. One on the valve keepers failed. I guess its time to find a c4 or c6 head and some c4 cams.

Yes it did. Found a c6 head local for $500. Getting replacement valves and will do all the work myself. The cylinder walls were not touched and the rods and crank look great. Turbo is also fine.

They looked great as well. No scaring what so ever. I turned off the car and put it in neutral the moment I heard it. Going to stick with crower and I'm hoping the new c6 head will increase the power. Going with 9.8:1 comp this time though

The only reason this happened is due to the keeper failing. I found it in 3 pieces. They were oem. I'm now getting aftermarket hardened steel ones.

No, but when I had all the head work done they put oem ones back in.

Not sure I rememeber seeing that as an issuw with Crower and d-series and I think b-series also.

Well I found a complete c6 head for 450 shipped to me. Got here today and it's been decked and ready to get some upgraded parts. I'm going to the field and will be posting pics when I get back of the rebuild.
