oil use for rebuild engine

Hi! it's really needed to use a mineral oil? or you can run just with semi or fully syntetic oil in a fresh engine?

Never heard of using mineral oil for a rebuilt motor. I've always used 15-40 diesel oil. Works just fine. Most people use normal motor oil with a higher zinc content.

Walmart or parts store special with free filter (your break in filter). then Valvoline VR1 Racing oil (nonsyn) as its high in zinc.
