All the plumbing for the power steering and the water is done. Rear brakes and exhaust and it should be driveable.

The welds are good and gas welds but the welder is a bag of dicks and has no heat control other than high and low so I have to compensate with speed so my welds look like assholes on thin material.  Next big tool investment is a miller mig.

HF welder?
If so convert it to dc, use .030" wire tip and miller wire and that will help a bunch  :noel:

Exhaust is done and I've got some other issues to work through at the moment.

PS rack is leaking for some reason turning the fluid into a strawberry milkshake. Car wont idle correctly with the MAF plugged in and I dont think the tps signal is correct either causing the motor to behave weirdly to throttle input.

Rear brakes still not done yet because I need the PS hydraulics working correctly for the brakes anyway.

Oh fuck yeah.

This makes me want to start another build. Need a garage, or even a driveway, first though.

I want to molest a 1970s 240z.

Whats left to do?
  • get brakes functioning (some of the lines i made are leaking)
  • get power steering working correcly (getting air from somewhere)
  • figure out whats up with the maf signal. it's throwing P0103, maf plugged in reads 454g/s, maf unplugged is 1.6g/s
  • hood pins
  • perma mount hedlights in the up position
  • wire fan
  • weld in roll bar
  • recover dash and door cards (might say fuck it and run the cracked dash for a minute)
  • clean out the car
  • get tires installed after they show up
  • do something with the suspension
  • install 4 point
  • install most of the interior and get it to be somewhat manageable

I haven't done much lately. Just started a new job so I'll have more time to dick with it.

It's running like shit and I havent put in much work to figure out why. I think the bank2 o2 is dicked because I bought ebay sensors. It runs so rich and smells of carbon monoxide poisoning garage based suicide when it hits closed loop and starts to stumble and shit.

Time for a turbo :P

I don't think I could come up with a drivetrain that could handle one or I'd try. The only good option for that is a full Corvette swap.

If I get it running right I'll cam it and throw some heads on and call it a day.

I'm pretty sure the o2s are swapped causing the fuel trims to freak out

Got it running right. The PS rack is leaking like a bitch now fucking the brakes up so I need a new rack or a manual rack which is like trying to find a unicorn.

I bypassed the power steering rack and I'm just going to fill it up with grease and cap it. Trying to fix it is futile. Hydroboost works now and the ps fluid stopped turning into a milkshake. I'm not sure I like how the hydroboost feels, though.

The gauge situation is annoying. The speedo cable goes through an inconvenient passage and isn't going to work even with good heat shielding so I bought a marine GPS unit that has a pulse signal out for speed for 38 bucks on eBay.

I couldn't get the factory tach to work with the LS ecu tachometer output even with a pull up resistor. I think that tach might be fucked. Who knows how long its been sitting.

The goal right now is to just use my old arduino and a few digital displays for speed / tach / watertemp and use a neopixel array for the tach/shiftlight.

Found out a couple of the other sub-harneses on the car are trash and need rewired including the headlight harness. The headlights are not on a relay and the switch on the dash is like ~25 amps and melted because porsche couldn't be assed to use the right gauge wire or do shit correctly.

I got the hood pins installed.

I have a bunch of welding I need to do to the chassis where I need someone to watch to make sure I dont catch the car on fire.

This includes the cage, the rear seat brackets and the hood pin brackets that are mostly just tacked on right now.

I have to re fabricate the water lines the situation right now is no buenu.

I roll on flat blacked the piece of shit tonight.

I'm kinda tired of fucking with it TBH. Feels like it's never going to be done.
