Cleaned some shit out of the tank and refuckulated  the feed lines and filter going to the pump to provide less resistance to the pump



Here's a video of the speedo from a short pull after.

No more fuel pressure drops so once I run this shit gas out of the tank that I caused cleaning it and install the wideband it should be good to tune.

The gauges don't flicker like that at all in real life. That's just some 60fps camera bullshit.

The steering wheel jitters brings back memories of first drives after being bought not running.
luckily the win of getting it mobile outweighs the depression of realizing they always need bearings brakes and bushings.

You need to add the voice of kit talking to you for the dash, not sure why but it reminded me of knight rider

I needed a center console and was just going to build it out of sheet aluminum  but I didn't really care for the way it turned out in the car




Then I bought some foam and shaped something up that kind of fit the old dash.






I was going to coat it in fiberglass then bondo it and paint it but fiberglass resin was like 40 fuckin dollars without the sheet.

Went on ebay, found a sketchy carbon fiber kit and poison gassed my entire house with vinyl esters.
(Do this shit outside always, the chemicals are nasty and permeate through everything)






I didn't vacuum bag it or anything. The sheet wasn't large enough to do one clean pass cover either. It's probably the shittiest thing ever made out of carbon fiber in existence.





I found a second seat on ebay for cheap and it matches the drivers seat so I went ahead and got that installed yesterday.

The factory seats in this car were rusted to the floor pan due to the battery tray leak so I went ahead and just made little metal tabs and welded nuts to the back. I cut out what I needed to on the stock mounts and welded the the tabs on.




I finished all the stereo wiring  and installed the rear speakers and mounted the stereo up under the dash. I'm using a kenwood marine bluetooth amplifier so I don't have to have an actual car stereo and it takes up only a little panel space.





Went ahead and installed the other door card I made as well





I had some problem with my gauges I made not displaying the car voltage. The chip that handles the OBD2 communication measures voltage but it doesn't return hex bytes like OBD commands do so I had to write the function a little differently to get it to party. It probably took me like 3 hours at least sitting in a freezing ass car to figure out what the fuck was going on.




That's just a regular serial stream going to the controller without seeing any return data.




This is printing the returned data from the chip and you can see how it's just not returning the same thing after receiving that ATRV command for some reason.

It's like one of the serial commands was not terminating correctly causing all the data to not be sent right until it failed enough times for the requests to line up again.

I finally got it though and now the voltage command for the STN1110 command fucking works and I can display it correctly.

Still having some  issues with the fuel tank, but I think the sender just isn't working correctly due to it being old as fuck. I tried to clean it and I measured the resistances of it and coded accordingly but something else is effecting it in the car that I haven't had time to go over yet.






cleaned up the engine bay a little today and started epoxying shit to the panel so I can get those little gauge displays mounted on it.




I heat wrapped the oil and water lines near the headers and did a couple unseen things but it's coming along nicely I think.

I still need to get the wideband installed and clean more shit up.

I haven't come up with anything yet. I'm good at learning something i'm interested in, but like you said I'm bad at coming up with projects.  So for now its just a distant urge.

it's getting dialed in as far as the engine goes and is feeling way better than it was. It pulls like a mother fucker in 4th where the gearing is wide enough to make use of that torque.  Got the wideband installed yesterday and sent some more logs to jd. Jd Found out I was about 20% short on throttle because the cable grommet wasn't pushed all the way down in the sleeve.

It pulls decent and I wasn't deep in to the throttle in that vid.

I took it out to try to get some pull videos and kept running in to old people out cruising around on Sunday.

It's a transaxle so the transmission is over the rear wheels. I've got a turbo box in going to go pick up next weekend. It will suck to lose the lsd but it should hold that power fine

Swapped the transmission to a transmission from a turbo today.

 I lost the LSD, but it shouldn't explode the ring gear anymore :noel:


Went and took some more pulls. Most aren't WOT but the gopro doesn't really do a good job of showing how close cars are infront of me.

The gears are much wider now and it feels a lot better with the v8.

Drove it to cars and coffee this morning and the fucking clutch exploded for some reason. Nice start to my vacation.

definitely was a spec clutch.

I'm going to take it apart and try to fix it but god damn there's a lot of money between the driveshaft and the engine.

I've had nothing but issues with spec clutches. Less then 500 miles and it fraged itself for no reason. (Stock v6 99 camaro) but it was out of warranty (not that they would have done shit anyways) friend insured on putting another in and guess what? It lasted 600 miles this time. New throw out, pilot, pressure plate, flywheel and all that jazz. Still killed itself. And it's not like he didn't know how to drive it. He put 100k miles on it with the stock clutch. Fuck spec clutches. They are garbage.

Good luck hope you get it sorted out. Would be a shame to dump that car after all that work.

I worked on it a bit yesterday and got the motor 90% out I just need to unbolt the subframe. It was hot as shit today so I didn't bother.

If it's the disk, that sucks because there's not really a lot of options for a disk.

JD warned me after I bought it. I thought I got lucky but no fuckin dice :mexi:

I pulled the engine out. The clutch looks alright. The throw out bearing was melted and in about 30 pieces.

I think the clutch smell may have just been the clutch slipping a little from getting a bit of brake fluid on in?

I got a new slave cylinder already. I'm going to throw the spec shit back in.
 
I'm cleaning up all the ghetto bullshit in the bay while it's all apart. Hiding some wiring, moving the prop valve under the master cylinder, doing the brake lines better, cutting excess metal out of the bay. Maybe painting the engine and throwing a cam in.   :-X

here's some update pics. I've been neglecting posting shit.

I built a bracket to attach a willwood master cylinder because the stocker didn't push enough fluid.






Redid the battery lines because they were super fucking hack jobs


I added a battery kill switch and a distribution block for the positive leads.

I cleaned up the harness as well, but you can't really tell.

That prop valve is getting moved. It's like that because I had the engine in and then realized I needed it if I didn't want like 70% rear brakes with the mustang master cylinder.



My fucking expensive ass ceramic coated headers were rusting and flaking off so I sprayed those bitches with silver VHT header paint and my beautiful Y pipe. :mexi:





Throwout bearing quit life.




I'm building an MS2 for a friends 1UZ swap as well
