For that im/tb setup, is there a step from the TB into the intake or is it completely smooth and equal diameter?  i've heard that you should have a step from tb to im

Throttle body is a 74mm inlet tapers down to a 68mm plate

Spacer is a 70mm inlet tapered down to 65mm. The reason the spacer is 70mm is to not allow reversion to occur since most people will only port match to a throttle body size. There is too much play in bolting on a throttle body and you will always have the throttle body backside overlapping at some point.

The manifold is ported out to 65mm plenum the largest you can go before you crush into the iacv port. Thats is pretty clear when you look at the picture.

Also all Honda throttle body/manifolds from the factory come with a 2mm larger manifold opening vs the throttle plate size

For example:
b18b1 manifold has a 62mm opening but only a 60mm throttle body. This concept was transfered to my spacer since oem manifolds/aftermarket can only be opened up so large due to lack of material and also IACV ports

Essentially if your only gasket matching to the throttle body size on the manifold your doing it wrong. Honda knows what their doing just follow their lead.

whats a skunk2. I dont use their products and no I know for sure they dont have enough material to port that large. Again iacv port kinda gets in the way

Wanna know how large you can port it. Measure your inlet size. Then measure how much material before you crush into the iacv minus 1mm for sealing surface

There you go. That applies to any car/manifold ever made even magical skunk2 sohc manifolds that lose power ;D

Also who makes a 76mm plate throttle body for honda's?

MMMmm new parts. Whaddaya got?
Last wrk injectors to decap and turn into 810'cc

They are shorter in size, i just removed the fuel rail spacers and spaced them to the desired hieght with washers and shorter bolts. I also put a small o ring on the manifold side of the injector and it slid into the standard honda manifold injector orings and locked into place.

Ok was getting the motor together today. Everything was going good up until I went to put the pistons onto the rods. For some reason the top of the rod is hitting the under side of the piston. The pistons have a bit of a hump to them, I started shaving the hump down to clear the rod, but the damn dermal died half way through the first one; went at it with a hand drill for a few hours and only got 2.5 done.  Crank is in and thats it....

I guess tomorrow is another day :-\

ill dig up the pics I took (i was going to do a write up). I just used some wrx plugs off a dead engine we had at work, I think all obd2 plugs may be very similar because iv also used late model evo plug wires.

01/31/10

The day started out with me going and picking up the rest of the little Bs I needed to get the motor together. Got a super late start because my friend is a lazy guy that almost didn't get up.

Driving around in my DD beater, car had been sitting for about 8 years then this past summer I finally put it back together.

My friend that slowed me down aka Arab money hahahaha

Here he is running from the camera, what a punk he wouldnt let me get a pic of him. Not that anyone wants to see him.

A while later I had arived at my friends job, had to steel some of his tools.

The man has a shit load of tools, this is his baby box.

Someone fail boat Sr power 240. This thing had some many things wrong with it I could write a book about.

About a hour later we where back at Arab money house. Arab money on left, and my friend who I shall call the Man on the right.

Now here are some pic's of some of the stuff one needs to put a motor together.

I have some shalack indina sealant, red lock tight, green plasi gauge, Engine lube, and head lapping compound.

Here are some of the parts I had got.
Zex/comp cam 59500

Aem cam gear.

No its not red.

Arp head studs.

Zex/ comp springs.

Next up the baller Chris M(Pbtuning) Ported Z6 intake mani+ spacer+ 74mm tb= ready for 400+ hp

The bling!

During this hole time my baby was feeling super lazy, then she ended up taking a nap. Here she is.

The man wasted no time and got right to work by first cleaning the mains.

A bit of a mess.

Here are some pic's of my clean up head.

I got to work by lapping the living hell of the valves.

Heres how the true Og's lap the hell of of valves.

Back to the Man, here he is giving the crank a good look over.

An the motor that I am building. Its a 9v9LD hahahhahaha no its a D16A6

Around this time we started running into the first set of problems.

Here was the problem, the damn rest pin would not go through the piston and rod. The problem was that there was a hump under the piston that would not let the rod go all the way up. I ended up taking a dermal to the under side of the piston. This would have work great but the damn dermal thought it would be a good idea to crap its self and die. Good thing for HF, there $2 dermal did the job with out dieing.

By now it was time to check the mains to see if they where with in spec. But first the bearings had to go in.

Crank going in.

Now it was time to plasti gauge.

Next up was to TQ the main girdle.

All them look like this when they where done.

Once again Arab money showed up out of no where but would not take another pic.

While we work another of my friends showed up, Jenny. She fail because she would not let me take any good pic's of her.

Since all the bearings check out it was time to lube them up and re TQ them down.

This is me lubing up the mains.

Here was the block with the crank in it.

Here is another pic of everything we used to work on the motor.

At this point in time everything was going rather smooth, then once again another set back. As we where installing the rods and pistons some how one of the bearings fuck up on rod number 1, by now it had gotten late and we call it a night. I been super busy since then so the motor is still apart. I did get a new set of rod bearings soon I just need some free time.

I also have a bunch more parts showing up soon.

This is me looking at one of the pistons before we started grinding the under part of it.

Should have checked the "crush" in the bearings before plastigauging them. But it would be more difficult seeing as you have a girdle instead of individual main bearing caps. Without checking, you dunno if the bearings have sufficient crush to keep it from spinning a bearings.

Its a pain in the ass getting around the girdle so that would be rather hard....

Only way I can think to check it is to use a snap gauge to measure the bores of the bearings at different angles to check for out-of-roundness, and mike the snap-gauge to get your measurements. Would be a pain in the ass, no doubt. But worth checking IMO. Seems most people don't check it, and spinning bearings seems to be more common on hondas than some other vehicles.
