Hey, I had to not long ago, I was THAT broke.

$20-25 to live for a week.

$10 on food like above, didn't always have coupons
$5 for gas to get to the library, to surf the net, sell shit on Ebay
$5 for Cici's pizza, all you can eat, help clean at the end of the night and get leftovers

and if it was a good week, I'd spend $5 on a 12 pack of Beast Ice.

I never took any government assistance other then the due to me unemployment for 6 months.....which went to pay child support.

Frugal, wasn't fun, but with todays economy, I'm way ahead of the rest.

Depends on your shot, the wife can KO them with one shot, so 5 squirrels or so would not cost much (hell OP had a pot pie, not much food there). Or pick something a little larger to take home. Or just go fishing, you can find worms in the yard. That would be cheap.

Sorry, the squirrel population has diminished in numbers here due to overharvesting. Decided to quit hunting untill a proper population has returned.

ok, not really, I don't really have the time to gather all this up so I found some pictures, but the wife has shot squirrel (defending the bird feeder) and fried it up for dinner.
