PG2 helps, a lot, but don't expect it to always protect you.

I got a couple friendly letters from my ISP for downloading shit even while using it.

Now I only use private trackers on a remote server and transfer the files home through FTP.  No fucking way I'll ever get another letter.

Are there any decent-ish lists for people who aren't hooked the fuck up like you are, Jorsher?  I've been torrenting naked from unsecure routers when I need something, so I neither know nor care about PG-related stuff.

BlockList Manager is pretty good.  Grabs lists from a few sources and combines them to be used with different clients...  Did they ever get it (PG2) working well on Vista?  I haven't used it in a long while but it was shit on Vista when I used it, which would also mean it's shit on Win7...

Only time I got infringement letters was from an Xbox 360 game I was grabbing before it was released from a public tracker, and...Pokemon.  Still don't know what the fuck that came from and am positive it came from the old roommate or his fiance, but they deny it and were both set up with PG2.

ive been d/ling tons of shit for a long time, and untill about a year ago i never used any blocker program or anything, and never had a problem.
since using PG2 i still havent, so i dont know exactly whats up. i just found a website that had a bunch of other lists and started using those too.

Well, you won't get in trouble unless a company is actively looking for people taking their material.

In my case, Nintendo and whoever made a big multiplatform space/horror game (can't remember the name, never got around to playing it :P).

99.99999% of the time you'll be fine.

I've been dl'ing since dialup and newsgroups, IRC, napster, edonkey/emule, etc etc and never had any "warnings" until last year.

PG2 is great and there's not really a reason not to use it, I'm just too impatient to wait for shit to download on public trackers full of hit-and-runners.

same here, spending a day or two to get one audio cd and shit on dial-up. lol
i used to use the newsgroups when they were free, but now everyone wants money.
how do you find private torrents??? i have never even tried, but it sounds like a good idea.

You don't really find them, they find you :P

Kinda a pain in the ass to be honest.  I torrented for years and didn't get into any private sites (demonoid doesn't count) until a year or so ago.  Once you get into one, if you just keep your ratio high and make some e-friends, they'll get you into others.

So....I'll just throw this out there, anyone have complete Alldata torrents with enough seeders that It might finish downloading before christmas next year?

alternatively, if someone would be willing to burn me a copy of the set, or let me come to your location and do it, just let me know what ya need to make that happen.
