 ;D What a night  took the truck out to the track to get some shake down time. Only 1/8th mile but it was run what you brung and you line em up and race anyone.

The truck ran flawless on 8 psi and due to the weak ass street tires i had traction issues but man did i run many of people down at the top end. I love a 6500 rpm screaming small block With boost. :o

No video because  had no one to video it out there. Gonna hook up a tripod inside and mount my camera for constant in car action.

Even with the vht down on the track it didnt  hook.  I did even a better smake show than when we did the 5 wide burnout. 3/4 track tire fry

Gonna get the M/T 33-10.50  drag tires mounted for the next meet in 2 weeks.

The setup for timing control doesnt do trap speed. But the reaction time needs lots of work but due to tire slipage there spinning when i just load them slightlly with 2 psi boost at the line.
my best run was  a
 1.287              reaction
 2.430              60 ft
 8.270              1/8th

Even with a .555 reaction   still had a 2.381 60ft and pulled off a 8.202 time.

Its all in the traction  and thats why i like the 1/8 mile racing. If you got the power and you can hook it you will be fast. test and tune on the 1/8th mile track 20 minutes from my house so when i do venture to the 1 hr  drive to the  1/4 mile  strip i will have the shake down and traction all figured out.An hopefully do some nice times.

Then this is all on 6psi remember. The motor when built was put together to hold up to 20 psi so with my electronic dual stage boost controller  this should  pull some pretty good track times. Motors loves to rpms and pulls hard all the way up to 6500

Holy fuck, that thing will run mid-low 7's out of the box when you find traction, on street tires.

The guy i was racing  had a 72 camaro that would just launch.  He had M/T et drags with screwed beads and running 11 psi and  no traction issues. His 60ft times  was a 1.803 and he ran a 7.203   Track record is like 5.800
I just love it though the guys i  will be lining up with have trailers that bring the cars out. I just drive  mine  thats how versital i make them. I can use it to haul the garbage to the dump. LOL  ;D

I had this other guy eye me as i came in and then he came over and wanted to line up see how we would do together. Well he took me out of the hole but by half track i drove by him like he was doing 30 mph,  afterwords he came up to me  over at the staging lanes and wanted to see what i had. I told him its just a lil  warmed over 305  ;D   He face was  :o kidding right.
Seems he had a warmed over 454 that he had put together that he was really proud of how it went.  That was all worth the build of the 305 :noel:

The 305 is just a small bore 350 built for fuel economy                         same crank
 The 307 is the earlier version of  the 305 but its just a small bore 327   same crank

as for the 301 pontiac built that no chevy  and for the 302 that was built for the trans am race circuit to deal with fords Boss 302   It was a high reving factory muscle car motor. Why are the a sought after motor now?

Well  i do have a different set of tires for the caddy engine so the 60 ft times can be down in the 1.2 and better due to a 18in wide drag  tire.I got a couple tires from a sprint car they used them on the dirt.This is a very soft compound tire gonna see about getting some rims to get them mounted up and try them out.

never dealt with anything but a bored to fuck and back 350

whats your point?

The point is that you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

The 302 chevy small block was a damn fine motor.

You have to drive one and experience it to appreciate it.

Ok check out this video of a 302 and my oh my is that music to my ears
http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf?video=da639da3-f94e-40ca-8030-9a9400088127
The 305 sounds close when we run it to 6500

Just watch my old video when Dave  video when we took a trip in the turbo truck  with the 350 in it. I feel the 305 sounds meaner  and way deeper tone

I am seriously thinking about a TT SBC 350 on propane

because as far as I know I could run a vacuum hose from my mixer to a v-manifold block and then throw some vacuum lines to the compressor housings and then a line to the carb(its a diaphram so I assume it runs off vacuum)

I need to talk to a propane turbo guy, I know nothing about this kinda shit.

Ok so i have the new tires mounted up, thanks to the creator for letting me use the tire machine at his work. Here are some pics of the  et drag slicks that hopefully will hook good. Jeff does think the 305 has enough balls to do a smokey burn out. Hmm gonna see if the dont then that just means i dont have to worry about traction and the better look out the rhmt truck is coming kick ass and take the trophy.

A while back Rob Kinnan at Hot Rod built a modern 302 Using a Caprice LT1 2 Bolt 350  and one of the 267's that also came in caprices... I need to track down that article.

this thread makes me wanna turbo my 79 425 Caddy....

The 425 are weak and restricted excesively in the valve and head flow. The best would to find a 472 and boost it. It will bolt right in and they love rpm way better than the 500`s do.I remeber that article where he built a 302 from the different engine stuff.

350= 3.48 stroke
307= 3.25 stoke
305= 3.48 stroke

307s aren't typically used for perf because of the stroke. However they can make big power at high rpms.
