Overheating, headgaskety issue

Soooo, we replaced the headgasket on a friend's CRV a couple weeks ago, and yesterday it started overheating again, and he said there's oil in the radiator.

He decided not to have the head machined and head studs replaced last time, so I'm assuming the head is warped and/or bolts are stretched (they were way overtorqued when we removed it).

Anything else that could be checked?  I'm assuming headgasket isn't reusable?

It already got hot enough to pop one gasket.  Get that head milled...  buy a new hg

It's not my car, so why check shit I don't have to?

I told him to have it milled when it was originally off but he's cheap.

Tell him since he's a cheap ass now he has to pay for it again since he halfassed it the first time.

Haha, he's alright, just likes to learn the hard way I guess...

He's attempting to buy an Acura TL today in the mean time.

Was pretty sure it's a combination of head warpage and/or stretched studs, just not my car and would rather make sure there's no other bullshit before I have to help him with this again...

You can reuse head bolts I do it all the time and on motors that lasted forever without issue



The head needs to be milled that is a must. Its cheap and does the job. New headgasket is a must also


Most machine shops will charge 40-70 to mill a head


If you want to really do it right get new headbolts also.

Yeah, I wanted him to do it right the first time...  Gonna have him replace all that shit, really don't feel like working on it again.

Has one at work, did something like that, 2 head jobs (resurface) later put a motor in the bitch.   Noticed there was no oil restrictor in the block, not sure if it had anything to do with it
