Topic: Interesting day at work. Time to move i guess. Houston? (Read 3750 times)

Got into work this morning and had a mandatory meeting at 11:30 with my manager. Similar thing happened a couple weeks ago and a third of the company was let go. I didn't have high hopes. 11:30 rolls around. Seems to take forever. Sit down and my boss asks "Hey, you like Wisconsin." I thought he might be wondering if I was serious about staying at the location since a lot of people were moving away. I reply "heck yeah, i love this place." I really do enjoy living here. Then he replies, "Oh, well you have until January to move to Houstion with all of the other edisons (the leadership program i'm in.)

Cliffs: Being forced to move to Houston.

Anyone from the area? The biggest city i've lived in is 200k. This is going to be a change. I just bought a BMW 330xi too. Had I known I was moving to a place without snow I certainly wouldn't have gone with AWD. I hasn't really sunk in yet. Needless to say my gf isn't happy. She wants to try long distance. Not likely.

dude, when a woman says she wants to do long distance, it means, "this pussy ain't your's no more if you can't be at my beck & call" drop her ass. the roads suck ass in houston. just a fyi. also, being a hotter climate, women are encouraged by the weather to wear less. less fat chicks, less clothes. texas isnt that bad, but some of the roads are fucked up.

houston sucks its either the rich side of town (the woodlands) or the ghetto(the rest of it) and the highways are fucking crazy if you dont have a gps and a fucking clue dont get on them haha..

I don't really have a choice. With the economy engineering jobs are getting hard to find. Especially when your specialty is turbomachinery in the Oil & Gas field. I have a couple other options but it would be a pretty significant pay cut.

make sure to get a toll tag and stay away from 5th ward at all costs. bmw over there is like a taco at a weight watchers convention. overall i liked it though. im only about 3 hours away from houston.
