So what are the next two biggest ports on the west coast that could be used for importing engines?
Portland, Oregon and Seattle,Washington?

No, you don't understand.  Cars, containers come in on the east coast too and are being siezed and destroyed.

Put phony Mexican tags on running vehicles and drive across  :mexi:

There are a few cars done this way, but recently you can't get titles for them.

Buy new Camaros and quit messing around with 20 year old 1.6l engines.  You're killing the environment.

The only good thing about Canada is that they don't seem to give a Fuck.

We have smog..but if the car is too low to put on the rollers it's a "Idle test"

if you have swapped the motor in a vehicle you can smog it under the "hotrod" clause.

Even with smog I can buy a bogus certificate for $50 that is good for 2 years.

Hmmm how about just for parting them out once you get them in the US.  A lot of trouble I know...  I still like the idea of putting the title from a similar USDM car on a foreign auto and saying everything you've done is a modification.  Like get a RHD glass top CRX and put plates for a USDM CRX on it, part the USDM out and scrap the unibody pieces.  If anyone has a problem the firewall and dash were swapped as a custom job.  For good measure put some phony booger welds in some places on the firewall to make it more convincing.  Doable?

why not just take the JDM car and swap teh VIN's from a USDm car.

And even then the only smog is in the east or in Vancouver and they are supposedly getting rid of it there. Fuck California, that's right Arnie I said it.

That's basically what you would be doing anyway, drilled a couple rivets and dropping your usdm vin plate in.

I don't get why people have such a hard time titling jdm cars..  just pretend like it's a customized usdm car!

Have fun with that. When you're at the track, random shop, roadblocks where the troopers are savvy, etc, and they aren't DOT rivets you can kiss your shit goodbye.

Then leave them.  Is it illegal to do a dash and firewall swap?

Without filing the correct paperwork, yes.

If you sit and think about it, it's pretty easy to pull off what you are talking about doing but man you really have to be careful.

About just swapping vins yeah can go to jail for that. DOT rivets have a hole through the center of them when the cars inspected they stick a pin through it to check. Normal rivets leave the little center pin in them and just cut it off at the bottom.

Never once in my driving experience have I seen anyone stick something or even go near my vin plate.

Hang out at an autobody shop, any (chop) shop that the cops watch, and any track if there's been a recent string of stolen vehicles.

What is involved in just swapped dashes and firewalls... or saying you are?  Usdm vin on a jdm dash would be kind of fishy, eh?   ;D

CA CHP officers and the like are educated better than prooobably anyone you know on whats authentic, correct or along those lines.

They are NOT fucking playing.

Yeah Texas for the most part is the same, just leave the counties with the big cities and you're golden, or find a shop which is owned by a Mexican, offer $20 more in cash, and collect your legit sticker...

There is a place online that sells the rivets. I know McMaster used too, I got a few from there and currently the GRM car doesn't hold the same title and VIN of what it actually is (I used Mcmaster rivets) They are annodized and have an odd lip on them

I will track down the link tonight, they are used in industrial applications.

What port does Canada have that engines would most likely go through?
