Cheap water/meth pumps?
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:49:10 PM »

Do I really need to spend 120 dollars on a 150psi pump for my meth kit?

Can't find any 150psi pumps on PA website, only 100$ "pony" pumps.

for external oil pumps, I would either run a shurflo 8000 (they are like $90), or modify the oil pump from a SBC to run off an electric motor.  Did a good bit of research on these when I was planning out a remote turbo setup.

That seems like it would be a fair bit of work.  Access to a machine shop would be vital I would think.

Sweet, lemme know. I know they occasionally have shurflo stuff in the store, but nothing is listed on their site.

Shurflo. do you really need 150psi? The 100psi pumps are $55, and the 150s go for $130+. get a sureflo accumulator too. it keeps everything nice and consistent as the pressure switch on those things makes it jerky as shit. GPM would be the best way to pick the right pump.

Where are the 55 dollar 100 psi pumps? Need low volume for meth, high pressure to get decent atomization.

Lol.  God ole J.B. Weld.  Good idea, although I probably would have gone about it a little differently.

I''m going to be running a DIY oil pump on my rear mount turbo setup (when I get to fucking work on it) for oil scavenging/return.  The best part is that it cost me all of $30.  Shitload of JB weld, some pipe I found in the garage, and a brand new sbc oil pump from advance autoparts.  Spun by an 18V cordless drill with a crap battery that we were going to toss.

My oil lines are going to cost about as much as the pump.

usually electrical, atleast in short duration.   you can get a used NASCAR rear end pump cheap on egay, it should have more than enough volume for a 4cyl

Why not take off of the accessory pulley?  Is the electric motor really a better option?  Mechanical load vs electrical load which is more efficient?

Pump's gotta be in the back, or at least that's how it seems.  It also needs to be able to drain the oil lines after I shut off the engine.

Said oil pump:

Just needs a skim coat of rtv between the layers and its all good, pump gears are like new inside.
