Has too many sharp and jagged edges, I prefer cars that flow, but not as bad as half the other crap they make today

I hate to admit toyota is starting to slip.

I mean The reason I own a toyota is because I don't want anything else. I don't want a fucking stupidru engine in my toyota.

smooth the body, and get rid of the stupid creases and jagged edges, put an inline 6 with a turbo (or 2) and a 6 spd trans, and it would sell.

IF it goes into production, I doubt the exterior will change too much.

The interior is obviously concept crap that will be a lot different if its built.

Has nobody seen concept cars before?

They always have off-the-wall shit.

I agree with JD Yamaha designed motors for Toyota were the best.
Except 2zzge motor the valvetrain was to fragile when push to high revs. :?:

No.

I generally like the Yammy designed motors, and rank them way above Scoobarus, I just don't think they are "the best."

maybe I just had a fluke yama motor but mine died at 50k and it wasn't one of those jdm units either. :(

my gaydeem yama motor is a "40k" motor and burns oil like a motherfucker but looked alright when I threw it in.

doesn't look too terrible.  Only good things i can think of about it having a subie motor is that you can drop in an EZ30R (the subie H6) and chop the pipes to sound like a pissed off 911, and also that it means you have a wide engine bay if you do put something else in.

Maybe you didn't notice, but this is their "replacement" ae86 :P

It's not quite the low-budget, simple AE86, but I guess if they meet their price goals (which I doubt), it will be close enough...

I think it's just wishful thinking to expect anything like the simple, lightweight CRXs and AE86s of the past...too many safety concerns and bullshit added on now.

I hope not, the last Celica used the Corolla/Matrix platform = shitty suspension. :?:

we should be free to buy tincan-rattletrap cars if we choose to do so. like sign a waiver stating we know this car is a tin coffin but we dont care.

actually look at my join date.... may be a n00b post count wise but definitly not time wise. Actully do work on alot of older models toyota/honda owners tend to be more dealer specific just tends to be their mentality owning one. "i bought the all mighty reliable toyota/honda gonna get it dealer serviced for life" My point really was not that they are great cars which they are not, but people always say they arnt as a good as they used to be which is bs, yea you hear more bad things about toyota's but in the past few years their are alot more of them on the road, problem to car ratio is proboly better then it ever was, hell look at the ol 22re's main bearing failures and t chain problems, headgaskets and the 3vze was another gem, 7mge had loads of problems too they all did. In the broad outlook though they always seemed to be somewhat better then the compeditors or equal to the better ones, but the new ones are no more worse then the older ones, give it a few years and who knows but definitly not yet.

I was wondering when this would happen.

Some of the Camrys are being assembled in Subaru factory in Indiana for the last 3 yrs.
Toyota owns 16.5% of FHI. FHI part company of Subaru.

That explains why toyotas have sucked ass for the last few years.

The camry has never been on the highest stair for reliablilty.  I reference the 5S-FE.  Rod knock at 125k miles like fucking clockwork for about 1 in 4 of those bastards. More than likely poorly maintained, but non-the-less, its there.

really havent dont one yet/scene one yet, been working for 6 years at the largest dealership on the east coast of snowland downward of montreal, but then again that motor hassent been produced in 8 years so hardly a few years ago..... i have however found that alot of times a timing belt can cause a flutter against the timing cover to resemble a motor knock sound in which a shop will recomend a motor when not needed, but hey its a gravy flat rate job so more wrong diag the better for me

At 15K miles year average mileage, that makes a typical 125K mile motor eight years old.  You ever notice how 90% of your cars stop showing up after warranty because dealerships fuck people on service work??  Yup, that's right, you know jack shit.

Go make your n00b post, I have $5 that says it fails and you tuck your tail and go back to performing a lot of oilchanges without the lip service.

I've owned a few hondas over 200k miles without any major failures...  headgaskets being the biggest pain in the ass, but that's somewhat a maintenance thing anyway.

Not sure if newer cars will go that long without a big repair.

They shove more shit into them now than they used to.  more shit = more chances for problems

Nobody really knows yet though, since few of them have 200k miles...

I still believe the older shit was built better :P

2zz has been in service a few years now, I imagine there will be a new series of engine to replace it very soon.
