pretty fuckin simple. noodle substitute in soups/stews, closely resembles parsley dumplings you put on top of kraut/pork/keilbasa)
similar to chicken and dumplings, only not. it's a runny noodle dough, firm enough to hold onto a spoon and drop off after a few seconds
2 eggs, 2T oil, 2-3T milk & 5-4T water. (1/2c total, give or take) salt/pepper to taste (you need salt though) and whisk it up.
i tossed in some paprika for win
add in roughly 2c flour, divided, and mix with a spoon unless you have a dough hook and a bakery sized mixer (you will need to add more though hopefully)
it'll start to come out like thick, cold pancake batter. this is what you want, if you turn the bowl on the side it slides but slowly (this will be easily learned on the first one or two rivvels you cut off the edge of the bowl with a spoon/butter knife, they need to keep shape somewhat but not be stiff OR runny, adjust the wet/dry as needed)
SO FAR this is the same as noodle dough, give or take some slight changes based on recipe.
(missing) picture of dough on spoon, for thickness/hang time. phone ate it
hokay, so boil some water. i added 1T total beef/chicken bullion, and about a tsp of oil to keep the dough from sticking upon dropping in.
bring it to a rolling boil, turn down heat to keep the shit at a steady boil. IMPORTANT PART YO
(another phone ate pic) cut off rivvels in the size that you want. if you followed the recipe at least half-assed they will float fairly fast (1-3min) and roughly double in size.
rivvels cooked a bit more, all risen to the top and shit.
strain them DO NOT RINSE. if you are using these for soup, add them into the boiling soup now, or in place of the boiling water a few steps up. again, MUST BE A ROLLING BOIL none of that faggoty simmering pot shit. you can eat these plain, add cheese, season them more, or just melt some butter on them or whatever the fuck you want to do with them. if you didn't forget ingredients and got the consistency right, they will have an amost breadlike appearance on the inside, and be very soft. chewy is alright, raw is not. nor is overcooked and falling apart.
