engagement ring
« on: October 26, 2009, 05:01:15 PM »

so yeah, I dropped the question and she said yes. The biggest problem is I don't have a ring yet, so I'm on the hunt for something affordable. I told her she can get me a titanium/silver band, I could care less about the ring bullshit, but I know she's expecting something nice on her end.

any ideas? I know one of you divorced nogs have one laying around  O0

also, we decided to do a budget wedding at the beach.. we are saving more money for the honey moon, which seems selfish yet reasonable.

Buy used..  I paid $4300 for a ring for a girl I was gonna marry.

2 years later I got about 10% for it.. jewelry markup is nuts.

either that or dig up dead bodies.

look at estate auctions , skip places in the mall.

Or don't be a cheap steamy bag of faggot and get her something she deserves. If she's good enough to marry, she is good enough to drop $5k or more on. Yes I'm married, yes I spent more than that. Yes she is certainly worth it.

Something she deserves?  That's a terrible mindset.  Most chicks already have an unfounded sense of entitlement.

My wife said she didn't give a fuck if it was a paper clip bent into the shape of a ring. She said its the meaning behind the ring. On that note, I had a ring from a ex that I spent 1200 on and never gave it to her. Just sat in my safe. I traded it in and they gave me 1200 for it  ::) I then spent another 2k on top of that for a ring that was on sale from 3500 down to 2000  ::) All in all it was a great deal for what I ended up with. 1ct center stone, colorless stone and a vvs1. Blah blah blah. Like said b4, if shes worth marring then shes worth dropping some coin on imo.

damn, now that i think of it, my wife handles the internet sales for a jewlery company. We get awesome discounts, but we are not bling bling type of people so we never get to take advantage.
You do not need to spend thousands of dollars. I know you love her and all, but  3,000 tops on your lowest rate credit card. There are better ways to spend your hard earned cash.

Its not like you're surprising her she already said yes. Take her with you she may surprise you, mine picked out a nice ring and when I grabbed a bigger rock with a better clarity she said the smaller one she picked looked better on her finger (cheaper hell yeah but the setting does make it shine)

Jewelry store lines of credit will give you 0 interest for x months just make sure you pay it off in that time. They usually accumulate that interest at a high rate to tack on if you don't pay it off. (Common knowledge I guess but I was clueless I always paid cash or visa for shit)

Last my sister gave me a small rock in a gold band I can see what she would want for it. dude moved away and I never used it. She doesn't want to advertise she ever had it so she wouldn't let me return it.

Good luck er congrats

Thats what I told my wife, and she said "we already have 3 crx's in our yard"

I spent way to much on my wifes ring, we went to various places and checked them out. And sure is shit she liked the most expensive one. But she got it, and she loves it.

SSautochrome needs to make sick wedding rings.
