State Highway 3 stalled by flaming PT Cruiser

Nov 12 2009, 5:27 PM


A flaming Chrysler PT Cruiser shut down southbound State Route 3 Thursday afternoon for about 10 minutes while firefighters doused the blaze.

With all Poulsbo Fire Department engines out on previous calls, North Kitsap Fire and Rescue engines were the first on the scene.

Poulsbo Fire Department reported the fire started about 1:30 p.m. near the Sherman Hill/Olhava exit.

When firefighters arrived, the engine compartment was engulfed in flames.

After the blaze was extinguished, one lane of the highway was opened for traffic.

Navy Region Northwest firefighters were also called to the scene
