Albins prototype dog box.  The PPG set couldn't hack it.
Title: Re: ‎8.92 at 179mph
Post by: bigdaddyvtec on August 31, 2010, 03:52:37 PM
Ya James insists the ALBINS blows the PPG set out of the water, In Fit and finish as well as performance.  Evidently, its a true drop in set for the most part, sounds like the PPG set is a pain in the ass to figure out as far as shimming and whatnot. I know a lil bit about that.

Crazy shit.  That car never gets old.  I could literally stare at it for hours, moving or not. lol

Kevin's getting closer to T1 and Miller's territory.  That Sac town track must be good, he's made hundreds of passes at PR and never broke into the 8's

Does Kevins car still have traction issues at the end of the track? Do they have BBG set up to be nog power mode in 4th? every pass I've witnessed of that car it seems to get squrrily in 4th.

Congrats to the SF camp.  Proud to have those guys up here in the NW.

Narf finish your shit.  Next season you'll be making some nasty passes too.
Title: Re: ‎8.92 at 179mph
Post by: chris on September 03, 2010, 04:52:49 PM
Sacramento is a very fast track. I ran almost half a second faster there than down at LACR in so cal. Mostly when the records for import racing where pretty well known Sac held majority of them. Famoso in Bakersfield is also a fast track in California.

Title: Re: ‎8.92 at 179mph
Post by: bigdaddyvtec on September 03, 2010, 05:18:03 PM
Sac is such a gheeto asstrack......  Is it fast??? Ya for some reason, but it looks like it belongs in fucking long beach

Yuppers it is hella fast and uber ghetto. Old school days turbo b16a was running 10.50's out at LACR. No changes went to Sac laid down 9.90's

Basically everyone's cars run at least .2-.3 tenths faster at Sac than any other track in california

Thanks guys. Here's a much better vid:

2010 West Coast Shootout Turbo Outlaw Final 8-29-10 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUbOfV3cIQY#normal)

The air at most Cali tracks sucks. Sac is fast because the air is good, but the actual track surface itself sucks. The car was spinning top of 2nd and most of 3rd really hard, the track just wouldn't hold it. Hopefully the air is good at Woodburn here in a few weeks, that track is one of my favorites and I expect to see some better et's.

As for the SOHC, we put the big valve head back on the sleeved/vitara block to see what change in power we would get. 1st pass off the trailer this happened @ 45psi in 4th gear:

(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi298.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fmm270%2FJFK_78%2FJFK%25202010%2520D16%2520Build%2FIMG_8606Small.jpg&hash=0aabc05b92f39259bda6c8739e745999468a3432)

She coasted to a 9.88 @ 144mph on her final pass. Pretty sweet, huh?!?
Internals and sleeves are all fine, block just couldn't hold the power. We'll be reinforcing another block before getting it sleeved and o-ringed. Then the 76mm 10.6:1 Arias slugs are going in for the big power.  Looking for 160+mph traps this time.  O0

Haha, "nog power mode". Yup, that'd be it in 4th. I have always had that box checked in the S300 PWM tables, but you have to have the cheat code to see it.  ;D

We made a bunch of changes to the car in the weeks right before Sac. She's making ALOT more power now, into the 1100whp range.

Shit! Not exactly home-made...but I still vote front page material.

BTW I was just thinking - is that with oversized headstuds? It's like the head & crank literally tried to pull the two halves of the block apart.

There is no secrets at all. Time, Patients and Dedication makes it go down the track fast.

Its "just" an aluminum rod 2 liter. Stock crank even!

Actually, no big baller parts in the powerplant at all. On the tranny/axles end of things, yes.

Aside from the big boy turbo setup, everything else in this build is the same as many of our customers street/strip cars. And really good steel rods cost the same or more than the BME's do.

This car is definitley one of the most basic Outlaw cars out there.

Title: Re: ‎8.92 at 179mph
Post by: bigdaddyvtec on September 05, 2010, 02:21:49 AM
Absolutely agree... Engine setups are almost cookie cutter now, everyone knows what works... Power isnt hard to make, its actually laying it down and keepig the drivetrain in one piece.

Well that and the driver mod, which is the biggest part of winning races.
