Post by: turbob16hatch on September 27, 2009, 08:34:14 PM
Here is a rb25 manifold i just made for a guy with a 240sx. I think it cam out pretty good for the first 6 cyl. divided manifold i have made.

on a scale of 1 to 10 how hard would you rate this. i have to build one for an r34 within the next year

i thought it was a t3 but the 6-1 collector fooled me, looked like that collector was a bitch to make. my buddy wants me to make a manifold for his rb20 corolla after winter, i think im going to have fun making the collector

I will say this is the hardest manifold i have made so far, just based on having to build it a certain way. or welding it is imposable.

Maybe a 6 out of 10. i would think a t3,t4,t6 open 6 cyl. manifold would be harder to build. I'm not looking forward to ever building a open 6-1 collector.

I also got caught off guard on a few runners warping. that i will have to watch closer on the next ones.

i noticed the shrinkage on that front runner pic. thats why i try to weld runners while the are taacked to the collector and head flange if possible.

Yeah i welded anywhere from 80-90% of the welds while it was together, i just have to change my approach more with these when welding off the jig. I will say this tuaght me alot obout how far runners move.... :-X

Idk, it won't be cheap for me to make another. In the area of $1000+. it's a lot of work.

You are a cheap date. I have to do a 6 into 1 for a stroked Jeep motor in a Pacer. I told them just labor $1k plus. Up your rates!!!!

I know i need to, but i have a few things to work out along the lines of fit up that i need to work out before i charge more. IMO

$1000 is cheap for that, I charge half that for a miged steel splog.  :P

+1, if the buyer of that splog wouldn't have said "your not getting paid, unless you take some progress pics" I would have never taken any either.
Title: Re: Rb25 manifold i made recently.
Post by: Passenger on September 30, 2009, 02:20:17 PM
Yeah I never take any pictures either, all the pics I have are from friends or customers, the only reason I have a camera is because a friend gave me one so I could take pictures of my stuff, I kinda feel bad for never using it, but I don't take pictures of anything, including places I go and people I meet etc. If I can't remember it, couldn't have been that important.

It's a pretty big god damn hassle to clean your hands, put things in position, etc every 15 minutes to take a pic and I'm not about to ask someone to take pics of my stuff... so I understand completely.

Isn't that what the bitch is for? Well besides quelling your general 'man needs'.

Do you mean polish the bends? if so i used red 3m pads on a angle grinder.
