Title: shitty idle need advice
Post by: drivin96 on January 17, 2010, 01:41:48 AM
so when its cold and warmin up its fine but once its warm it sucks it goes up and down between 1500-100 or 0 most recently.... i will press in the clutch and sometime the rpms will drop to low and turn off the car ... so far we've adjusted the throttle cable (adjustment screw on the gsr throttle body was dicked up) helped a lil gettin it to idle round 750rpms but it will still bounce

any ideas

That's what I was trying to remember.  When my car changed its own coolant a while back, it idled all fucked up because the FITV was seeing air, than coolant, then air.

if it idled fine before why in the fuck do you need a new TB

car also drops the idle when i add gas to the tank ...i'll drive it to the end of the gass station parkin lot and it will die as soon as i put the clutch in .. does this mean theres a prob with somethin in the gas line or could it just be somethin related to my prior problems?...

i didnt have allot of time today so i tightened the throttle cabl and now idle at like 1100 when i put the clutch in it drops to about 200 so it solves the prob for now but will the higher idle have a negitive effect on my car?

z6 fitv is the same as b series

Open up the plate and tighten the valve/plunger inside the valve. If it is stuck good luck and try another fitv. Most are rusted through at this age

Throttle stop you mean the small 8mm bolt. I have a bunch of those. 5 bucks to cover my time and shipping its yours

well didnt go to class today so i stayed home and pulled the fitv off took it apart put it back together and put it back on the car, then i bled the coolant system at first had foamy lookin bubbles then went clear after a min tightened that off ran the car for a few seemed fine , put in the clutch the rpms dropped from 1000 to 100 then started to bounce agin idk what the hell is goin on

then i opened up my catch can to see the line comin off of where the "black box" would be was full of the cum like goo? i wasnt able to pull the line off due to lack of time

here are some pics of the catch can , its made out of white pvc all the other colors is the shit it was talkin about there is also a good amount of moisture in there to

what u guys think of my catch can in all of its cum like glory ? ...i'v been readin and found it could be do to moisture but im not loosin coolant and the only thing that is poss is i read the changin temps realy cold to warm can cause moisture in a motor cold this moisture be enough to create the white shitty oil in my catch?

the moisture is condensation it has nothing to do with coming from your motor, its normal to have whitish shit like that under the fill cap or in a catch can especially when the oil gets that cold on on winter days....if its on the dipstick thats a different issue, that could mean some sort of head gasket failure.
