Title: How do you think it'll end?
Post by: Impact240sx on April 04, 2010, 12:28:11 AM: Ok so we're about to finally tune my cousins car. 90 CRX with a high compression D build (p29's, bisi header/cam/portwork/stock rods with arp's) that we decided to boost. Sold the bisi header and picked up a greddy kit with a 15g for 300 bucks. This is how it use to look

Made over 150whp out of this setup and about 125ft lbs

I know the piping is missing, it was getting the flange welded on.

Our goal is just 180-200whp on 93 octane to just have a damn fun lil car. What do you guys think? Go for more? lol This is strictly his fun car, not a daily.

You might want to back off the timing a bit too...

It depends on how "greddy" you get with power gains. If you use enough timing retard and relatively low boost, it will be peppy off boost although less so on boost. But...not shit the bed. A comp calc tells me that's ~11.1:1 CR, assuming it's an A6 with z6 HG. You'll make decent amount more power per PSI than a stock A6 just from compression, let alone the headwork. I honestly don't think it would need super-cold plugs like that with low boost. An 8:1 motor running 20psi will have 276psi worth of compression before ignition, if it get's 100% VE. An 11:1 motor with 5psi will get 211psi of compression with 100% VE, but realisticly will be less with the greater overlap in the cams.

I'd highly recommend at least pulling the rods and getting them shot-peened. No need for new bearings/rings/hone. Another option is getting some b18b rods in that bitch, but that'd require new bearings if you aren't the most lucky man alive to get an exact match for rod journals.
