Total value/expense of vehicle is not to exceed $500.
We can win this shit, every race, every year.
-
that would be bad ass.
-
LMAO... vagisil - itchin to win... Brilliant.
$500 limit? What will we do with the $300 left over?

Figure out how to put a 3rd turbo on it.

Rear mount. L<ike yer mama O0
-
nowhere close to me :-\
Entry: $500 per car + $100 per driver + $75 for non-drivers. (Each team must have 4-6 drivers.)
-
I could probably do this. :noel:
THE LAMEST DAY (2009)
Date: October 3-4, 2009 (full 24-hour endurance race)
Track: Nelson Ledges Road Course, Nelson Ledges OH
Entry Deadline: Ten weeks before the race (25 July 2009)
Late Entries: Considered case-by-case, space permitting
-
it's an absolute blast
did it 2 years ago and its worth every penny. tires are key, so is the car staying in one piece
-
id love to race there
-
OH is definitely doable... turbostd! lets use your $200 civic hatch :noel:
-
There's a turbo miata in there too. You should see the turbo setup....
-
I can see a high mileage turbo D16, making like 170 whp max. It just needs mad JDM torque and a broad powerband.
I know all the tricks - small turbo nobody wants, Audi external wastegate, large port OBD2 purge solenoid as a boost solenoid, stolen BK dumptube, whitey bends, hairspray can chargepipe, etc. We'll spend the other $300 on flying Spiker's mom to the event.

Thats my home track, i spent many a nights there. I tripped next to Tommy Chong for a few hrs bullshitting while watching a laser light show, i thought it was the drugs and i just in my head, but turns he was really there. O0
Whos down for jumpin off some cliffs there??
I have an ef 4 dr that would be great for this race.
-
I sold a car to a guy that raced these things. He was telling me about how they can pull you from the race and crush your car. Seems like a rhmt kinda sport.
-
Im not building a GRM car for next year and doing this....already in the works.
Friend of mine has a cressida sedan he is donating to the effort.
-
So who is for real game, in the midwest area? I will be living in South Bend in about 6 weeks, and have a new garage that needs to be broken in. :noel: Ive got a trailer and a truck to get it to the race...
-
I really should use my sedan in this im like 15 miles from nelson ledges lol i have less than 500 in the car too 350 for the car 50 for the y7 and the rest in the auto-manual swap If anything who want to go watch haha
-
Good luck. Ive been trying to get a team together for YEARS :(
-
the peoples curse, the car that gets crushed, has evolved into a publicity stunt. so theres always someone who WANTS their car crushed. when i did the race, it was a bunch of fags from some speed shop with a bmw that were complete assholes on and off the track. you are allowed to keep the 'safety' item if you get cursed, and all they did was take the wheels and tires off
-
that looks fun as hell. you could pick up a cheap ass ef hatch and strip it and boost it for less then 500.
at first i though the roll cagre and stuff liek that was included, that would be a shitty cage lol
-
Ya Id almost thionk about attending that...

Go lock a shitty thread, not a badass one like this :P

Anyone in ohio or wpa want to join in? I have been thinking I have this 92lx that is destined for the crushers it has a y7/ex trans. The car would need the folowing to be road worthy:
2 15in tires
front brakes
repair or replace fuel tank
I have a partial kit together but lack a proper sized turbo. I have:
SSAC mani
cdm wg
HF mani with bmc t3 plate
Dodge 550cc injectors and resistor box
chiped p06
ebay fmic
huge Schweitzer turbo
small ass rhb5
-
i've got a good gas tank out of a 94 civic si that i'd donate for the project

Possibly, were you driving it?
-
I have a dead '83 ranger sitting in my back yard and a couple 2.3T's in the garage... Anyone want to help megasquirt it?
-
no
-
i need to get up on this boaT!!!!
-
i've tried getting a team together since i did it a couple years ago, but all my friends don't see the fun in spending a few hundred dollars and several hours on a junker to make race ready for a weekend of killer fun
-
thunderhill is in my backyard... i think peter and i should do something with this
This would be great, i've been to Thunderhill a few times w/ peter.

thats what im saying. lets fuckin do this shit.. thunderhill, reno, altamont. its all good
-
Shit, I'm already off to a good start :p $40 bucks total into my CRX so far  That inclued buying it!
-
What's the winning strategy?
-
How about building a tank and aiming to take out every other car on the track?
-
logging laps is KEY
stop for tires and fuel only. change drivers then. 2 hours is a good bit in the seat at a time
broke car = lost laps = epic fail
How about building a tank and aiming to take out every other car on the track?
the organizers will take measures to ensure you don't last much longer once you are spotted as a 'threat'
one guy had a bunch of spikes welded to his front crossmember aimed toward his radiator. if he butted anyone in the ass he was done for the day. its fair and it keeps it fun
-
i need to get up on this boaT!!!!
IM ON A BOAT BITCFH
-
what size tires do you need? also, dan has a 60/63 in his garage
Ya I saw his 60/63 last time I was at his house he wouldn't sell it to me :P I need 15" tires I believe the good ones on the front are 205/60/15s or something close they may be 195/55s i cant remember If you have 2 or can get some decent used ones let me know.

no. its some assholes over at another forum i post on and hes been going to lemons races lately so i figured it would be him
-
I just came home from snagging an 83 toyota corolla that I plan on prepping for this with the intention of making a post about it and lo and behold JD beat me to it. It's RWD and light as fuck. And oh yeah it was free so it's a good start.
-
everything about this is awesome except for the 500 dollar entrance fee and 1500 dollar purse, its pretty lop sided. None the less, I would totally like to do this, too bad there aren't too many rhmt ers near me.
-
There's nothing lopsided. Tracks are pretty expensive to rent.
-

cheap car
cheap tires
run the shit out of it.
-
that rx7 is in desperate need of a v8.
-
a lot of people from rx7 club are taking place in it this year. that car itself right there would have a hard time.
-
that car right there is ready for a trip to the track
gut the fuck out of it, remove the rats nest, put some tires on it and go.

I know reading ain't for everyone, but you might want to try it, if you're gonna' hangout here...
The vehicle's original, manufacturer-stated curb weight may not exceed 4200 pounds.
LOUSY DRIVING
* 6.1: Individual Lousy-Driving Rule: Lousy driving--which includes, but is not limited to, unnecessary contact, overly aggressive driving, chopping off other cars, unsportsmanlike conduct, lack of car control, just generally being an idiot, and/or proving an undue pain in the butt to fellow competitors--will result in a black-flag penalty for Lousy Driving. These penalties will be punished as follows:
o 6.1.1: First Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Mandatory driver change; offending driver can't return to the track for three hours.
o 6.1.2: Second Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Driver loses his wristband for the rest of the day.
o 6.1.3: Third Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Driver is out for the rest of the season, beginning immediately.
* 6.2: Team Lousy-Driving Rule: Teams are held jointly accountable for the Lousy Driving Offenses earned by their drivers. These penalties are punished as follows.
o 6.2.1: First Lousy-Driving Offense: Mandatory driver change, 30-minute vehicle impound.
o 6.2.2: Second Lousy-Driving Offense: One-hour impound.
o 6.2.3: Third Lousy-Driving Offense: Four-hour impound.
o 6.2.4: Fourth Lousy-Driving Offense: Just put your ass back on the trailer.
* 6.3: Why Am I Upside-Down? Rule: You're upside-down because you have no business being out on a racetrack. Any driver who puts a car on its roof is out for the rest of the season, beginning immediately.
* 6.4: Touching a Temporary Barrier: Physically contacting a cone, tire barrier, or any other temporary structure placed on the track by the organizers is an automatic Lousy Driving Offense With Exteme Prejudice. (You don't even want to know what that means--trust us.)
The rusty car is sitting free of drivetrain and safe brakes... I think I'll try to attend the ohio race as a spectator n give this a whirl in a couple years.
-
Good plan. Everybody, find your nearest LeMons and attend it pronto. Kiss ass and talk to track organizers and crews if you can, report back.
-
I still havent heard back from the rx7 guy. ::)
-
I could see almost any EF with a cheap vitara'd D-series turbo winning this race. The lower fuel consumption & weight would help gain laps while other teams refuel & change rubber.
The MAIN problem, looking at the vids, appears to be the other cars. Most are slow, heavy, poor handling cars. Everyone else would spin you like a top when you bump.

bump? a turbo ef would be out in front the whole time! just have to fool with lapped traffic
-
Has anyone here run a 160-200whp stock internal d for 24hours straight in this type of situation? I think the greatest challenge would be reliability...

I agree that a 2g/4g would be the ideal chassis, for the same reasons you've listed. The rusty car I mentioned is an 89hf.
I think a vitara build is out of the question. Even though ycp's are cheap, things add up... I think the ticket would be finding a good condition stock engine n tranny for dirt, which is becoming less and less common.
nimble n quick will take care of that bumpin' stuff...
-
I hate to mention this, there hated esp by JD but a mild NA B16 would be ideal for something like this, they can take a hellva beating.
-
I have a MINT crx shell if you guys are going to do this.
-

P07, sir, the 7.x:1 CR is the ticket. Clearance the engine a little loose and it'll be allllllriiiiiiiight.
-

You want to trade paint with a pristine example of the 57 Chevy or imports? First, the car would be likely to get crushed, second YOUR LORD GOD COMMANDS YOU TO STOP RUINING CRXS
-
for the record, its not 24 straight hours
its 12 hours on sat 12 on sunday
and who's going to be pulling the pan or head to see what internals is in the block? the only thing that might give a non stock block away would be the holset under the hood
-
Dudes at this weekend's Kershaw, SC, LeMons claimed to have been in second in a stock 86 Prelude before (an obvious) main relay/ignitor failure (plus diagnostic incompetence) cost them sunday. Shouldn't be a hard field to take if your RHMT 250K mile D16 has a relatively fresh IHI and makes a full 170 whp.
-
I have a MINT crx shell if you guys are going to do this.
Why would you offer to crush a mint CRX.
I hate you.
-
sorry....didn't see the whole crusher part. yea...fuck that
-

Well it doesn't get tossed into a crusher, but rubbing is racing especially in the 24 hours of LeMons.
