this is the jig i made out of some mechanical wire to help keep my cuts straight. i just marked the tube off .75inches on the long side and tried to keep my short end as small as possible (the goal being to get a 4inch 90 with a 2inch center line.. and it came out pretty decent but not perfect)

any one who fabs outside in the wind, on grass, with a picnic table for a bench gets my respect.
-
What mig do you use? Im new to welding, where I work we have a welder and sometimes he pre-heats before he welds, is that a type of stress relief? care to explain?
-
Those are some sexy welds for a mig. Fluxcore? Nice work sir :noel:
The preheating is a form of stress relief, especially when welding steel to cast iron.

badass /0

Ah yes, propane makes a great shielding gas... ;D
just kidding I see it now, it was hiding from me
-
Looks good. I may end up doing something like this when I get around to fabbing my exhaust.
-
Nice job. I done a few of the pie cut for some local people around here since all they have is straight pipe. A chop saw will make it a little easiler. It's not as pretty as a tig but it get the job done. I love my mig. Ghetto-fabbing FTW!
-
this is why i told you to borrow my chop saw. fucking O0
good to see your closer and closer
oh ya shit looks ill
-
Looks awesome but are you running a radiator?
-
Did you check if the wastegate fit? Looks like the head of the wastegate will be close to the downpipe, but maybe its just the angle of the pic.
I love your downpipe and manifold
-
awesome job!!
-
Did I mention that looks badass? I might have to make a 4" downpipe after seeing this. Damn that looks beastly.
-
Thats some good shit...
-
Here is my downpipe... Same turbo. Love it!

I recall a VERY quick & easy way to get a really nice angled line, I think it was some mustang forum showing an X-pipe creation.
Get a tub/bucket of water, sprinkle stuff like pepper in it (has to float & stick), then dip it in to your line. Presto, instant cut line that's perfectly flat.
BTW I hate welding in the wind. I don't even like to have a fan on when I'm doing it. Maybe I subconciously screw it up when I feel wind, but it never works for me. Awsome shit bro O0

actually i was doing it for the tan. :)
-
how did you cut the pie cuts? did you use an angle grinder with a cut off blade on it ???
yup. use the machine wire as a jig, measured .75in, marked it, then drew a line using the machine wire and a paint marker, then just cut it with an angle grinder and a 1/8th cutting disc.
i would have liked to use a 1/16th but i used up my last one. :(

nice dp good shit

.045" cut off wheels work a lot better, Walter disks are the best. ;)
-
well the down pipe didnt fit. what a surprise.
so i had to get choppy and weldy again. ran out of wire. stupid fucking shit. anyways got it done.
and yes, the rad is going to be a challenge. hmm i foresee plenty of aluminum shrouding with a hard core gangster lean in my near future

dude that is fucking gangster O0
just fit :noel:
-
Might want to wrap the first couple inch's of the down pipe, well actually if it is going to get as close to the rad as you think, maybe wrap it till it is past that point.
-
i hope such a large diameter pipe wont make your car sound gay, that is a pretty frickin huge pipe. but it might sound gangsta as fuck. hope you post some vids once its up and running
-
the gayer the better. :?:
-
Gay? I love the sound of turbines in the morning! I'd just put a short resonator on the bitch and call it a good day.
-
startup vid, once i got a decent basemap on there
the tranny seems to tick with rpm. perhaps the lsd? never had one before so i dunno. isb is good tho.
Start up 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ab8QWcejkdQ#lq-lq2-hq-vhq)
pretty tight fit
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Flh3.ggpht.com%2F_KLU2PrSrd8E%2FShEz7G7Bz-I%2FAAAAAAAAALY%2FrXptrbZZGu4%2Fs800%2FMay%252018%25202009%2520014.jpg&hash=4b6b0bffb37d02e92a8c8d2a4bab8f9f794a3bb2)

-

mfactory, and yes. (i let the clutch out at about 16 seconds into the vid)
-
sound seems to have vanished once i put wheels on the car and put it on the ground.... must have been the lsd. ???
-
I love it
-
isb
input shaft had no play and when i disassembled the trans the isb was perfect. to the point that i didnt replace it, just the input shaft seal.
if i didnt know the condition of the tranny i would agree 100% tho.
thanks indian. ill love it more when it doesnt randomly stall and kill the battery trying to get it started again. lewl.
-
and it just keeps getting better.
hugs the pan

Hello, dear kind sir.
-
thats good work man, much respect...
ps have you managed to set the grass on fire yet lol, i have.
-
I think a better question is why 4" allllllll the way down to a 2.5 inch? Do you drop the exhaust at the trck or something?
-
at least the monster pipe will help heat up the oil on those cold days. im doing 3 inch stainless all the way with no muffler and a hollowed out cat. i paid 147 dollars for ten feet of 3 inch 16 gauge pipe. i will be doing pie cuts as well, all tig welded.

that was the plan but the fucking whore is so loud it makes tuning impossible.
i think im gonna drop it on the dyno and get tuned without it, then drop it at the track for the rest of the season. all depends...
i want to go 4 inch the whole way if i get the time/energy/tube
if i could do it again id go 3 inch, just that much easier and cheaper
