my cousin has a s10 with a v6 motor 4.3l
when stopped at a light the oil pressure drops to almost 0 and you can hear a knock.. but when you rev the motor the oil pressure goes up and the knock goes away.. he has been babying it and trying to make the motor last as long as possible
question isss...
is it just a bad oil pump? or is it more serious damage? idk.. could you install an external oil pump or some bs? idk.. rofl
bleh

worn out, time for a 350.
-
Junkyard motor time.

bleh so not even an external oil pump can save the motor? :(

No.Match and gas or junkyard.
-
bearings are gone
-
What bearings?
-
muffler bearings
-
What bearings?
balld bearings
-
put a new pump in it.
if it was a bearing knock it would do it all the time
its juat a top end noise from lack of oil
if its the ele gauge in the dash they arent accurate anyways lots of them ahow 0 of barely above when thwy are old at idle
it only needs around 8psi at idle to survive
-
shitty bearing tolerances would make shitty oil pressure, and not neccesarily knock
ask me how i know

LOL.
No, Blissy-wissy, that's bearing rap. A 4.3 liter V6 has god almighty for an oil pump (350) and an improperly crossdrilled crankshaft (worse than D16Y). They all do that, and it's been a known problem for 15+ years now.

nope

nice rebuttal johnny, lol

Hes to busy fighting for our rights against our corrupt asshole government to reply more than what he did

Jack boot thugs stole his will to argue.

nope
I thought short, confident answers that fly in the face of proof were the mark of corrupt polititions. Oh dear.

If IIRC JD was a GM tech when the 4.3 was out. Either way hes right, engines toast and has a shitty oiling system.

Johnnys right, statistically proven by statistics that prove it
-
put some 20w50 in it and run her till she lets loose...in the mean time find a scrap yard engine. :)

Once again the code monkey is ultimately right.

Slapping a new pump in it is just buying time. They don't just wear out, and if they did, they would take out other shit in the wake of their failure.
Nobody in this thread works on this junk for a living or anything....
-
Motor honey. Thicken up that oil and it'll last another year.
-
I vote clogged pump screen.
It knocks so it really does lose oil pressure.
knock goes awy with a bit of rpm so i doubt the bearings are totally shot.
either way though, you pull the motor to do either repair, so puta pump on it while your there. And stick with a no magic standard pressure/volume . te hi volume ones just pump all the oil into the valve covers.
-
nope
I'm going to have to agree.
Very good point.
-
Water cooled turbo manifolds make exponentially more power.
-
Run 50w in it for now.
-
You are all fucking retarted. The answer is very simple.
but when you rev the motor the oil pressure goes up and the knock goes away.
Adjust the idle up.
Fucking idiot.

I agree that I have been outperformed, by a nagger. Damn.
That's totally how I fixed my "no oil pressure at idle - BMW" issue, after filling it with 50w. Idle + 500 rpms = no blinky oil light, no more rough idle.

Are you Bliss' brother or close kin?

pssst, ask him about the towel
