Title: please help me with ectune b4 I crush this fucking laptop!
Post by: ratcityrex on January 31, 2012, 09:48:43 PM: Bought ectune, installed it per guidelines online. Get to the step where I plug in my ostrich and it won't connect to ectune. It just says can't comet to demon. Idk why since I have a ostrich. Ive uploaded the firmware to it and it auto detects when I do that. Tunerpro rt recognises it right away when I plug it in. Should I install ectune and try re installing it? I haven even got to the point where I need to request a licence for my ostrich yet.

It wont let me click on that. It just says demon, and its all grayed out and wont let me select it.

Post by: FreshDA9 on January 31, 2012, 10:36:05 PM: yea i would go ahead and fill out the registry and send it. in 24hours you get an email back with your license and that field will have your name etc in it. you might have to send calvin and email so you can get the latest update all old updates get locked out.

Post by: ratcityrex on January 31, 2012, 11:56:04 PM: When I received the email with my license it told me to save it as license.xml So It was named license so I re saved it with .xml on the end, then put it into my C:program files/ectune folder. After looking around in the ectune program folder I was looking the names and propertys of all the files and my .xml file was named license.xml.xml took one of the .xml's off and boom! Shit works. Now Im just waiting for my license for my ostrich now.

You connect an ostrich and he updates your license to be paired to your ostrich as well. Now you can tune but only with your one ostrich. He.used to time bomb the software once a month so if he suspected you were pulling the bin off the ostrich to tune other cars and burn a chip he could lock out your license so your software didn't work with the next update.

Least that's the idea I got to the.way the.system was.
The monthly time bomb is gone, and though he doesn't support much anymore there are a few.guys on the forum that do a good job helping through install errors. And there is a system to get a new license or transfer that Calvin responds to detailed on the forums as well.

So what the fuck do i do now. I think I hit the reset button or some shit so wtf do I do now?

went to the emulator tab
clicked conect
clicked emulator info
at this point it still said

Clicked request Lic

after a few seconds it came up with a box that said

License requested for serial :A72EC56E4449811E you will get a notification email shortly

Clicked ok
and it changed all my shit back to

Moates emulator type: ostrich_2
Vendor: eCtune
Emulator License: False
Serial ID: A72EC56E4449811E

checked my email and now im just waiting on my license.

Thnaks for the help guys. Im a retard when it comes to computers and my short temper comes out real fast. I was ready to fold this screen into a taco!

Post by: ratcityrex on February 02, 2012, 12:45:06 PM: I got it to work. Finally got a licence that would work. I tried calling him and I spoke to some dildo that had no idea wtf was going on. I would ask a question he would put me on hold. Come back with a answere/question and would give him a response and he would put me on hold again and come back with a answere/question. After about 6x of doing that he told me to email xenofraud because he had no idea. But I finally got it to work. And now its time to do a little tooning ;)

Then they sent me a link to the ostrich version and it was all fine after that. I'm surprised that calvin can be reached at all. Last time I looked into it it looked like he had given up on the program completely.

No different version that I know of. and yeah it does the same thing no matter what cal I use.

I took JD's advice and got it through xenofraud. Only because he actually responds in a timely manner compared to Calvin

so glad i made the switch even though i basically wasted 600 dollars towards the dealer license.
