I want to know which one of these nogs did the oiling system on the y motors or fucked up when cutting the keyways for the cams... Probably the same guy that buys the metal for the k retainers...

good show.

Your comment:
So the screwed up D16Y oilling passages, intentional failure to fix the weak K-series retainers that drop valves all the time, CRV AC compressors that gut themselves, 01+ Civic front shocks dead by 10K miles, are part of a winning strategy?
Limited to 500 characters I could not delve into the other 3/4s of Honda of America's problems.

Who can I call and speak to at Honda? I LOVE Hondas, but you are a company that has lost focus, and if any engineers still control the company they are cost engineers.
Your current technology/business plan is modeled after GM from the ugly plastic body cladding on the Element and mini-Avalanche er-Ridgeline, to the woeful and intentional failure to fix major driveline flaws. I can catalog many issues that did not exist when Soichiro was still alive, but I question whether you care or not.
$5 says I get nothing.

or a your e-mail has been forwarded to so-and-so department and you get nothing beyond that.

Honda wouldnt care if one of its head Engineers had something to say these days. The fact you can take a 20 year old transmission out of a junked 300k crx and take it to the track and beat the shit out of it says they know what their doing. When a stock k20a2 transmission fails at 60k and y blocks spit rod bearings for fun they are cutting costs plain and simple.
WE lived in a fucked up world of Greed and companies with Honest names have turned to the darkside.
-
dont get me started on acura's. RL struts just blow without notice, MDX almost everything breaks, seen a lot of TSX need many A/C parts replaced, powersteering pumps fail on the TL even after the recall have been done, along with the wipers, and many more BS problems that shouldn't be happening, especially on 30-60k cars.
-
I hear the squirts out of the mdx are good stuff. I wonder who makes them?
-
They won't be able to live on customer loyalty forever. People who bought their cars in the 90s just haven't completely figured out they're just like GM yet.
-
Who is to say part of the oiling issues on the Y motors isn't in the head??????
Anyone bothered to measure the orfice and compare to Z6 head.

I thought the y did have smaller oil-holes.

Which oil orfices I have both head sitting beside me. ;D

"Quit thinking with your dipstick Jimmy!"
To the best of my knowledge, NO ONE has confirmed the orfice sizes. I know if you leave the oil jet out of a D16A6 the bottom end goes dry at 6500 rpm on 100 shot.

The Jetta my wife drives now has had fewer problems in 23k miles than her RSX-S had in 35k.
RSX
2 ecu's
transmission at 20k
cylinder head (overrev? had bent valves)
front bumper cover falling off
exhaust rusted (I live in the south wtf?)
front tie rod ends
radio quit working, got a $99 one
probably some other stuff.
VW
Fuel pump because it was taking 5+ seconds to start in the morning
recalibrated fuel level gauge, was 1/8th tank off.
23K miles and no MIL lamp.
VW will waranty damn near anything, and give you a loaner car. Where acura refused to give me a loaner, even after having my car for over a week. Fucking fail.

Your Acura dealer is worthless. Even Honda gives you a loaner.

Your Acura dealer is worthless.
Your pointing out the obvious. If the OEM's dont care enough to police their dealers, they dont deserve to be in business.
I agree with Joseph, the path they are taking is the same as the General. The point I was trying to make was that when VW makes a better product than Honda, something is wrong.
-
I'd own one of the 2.0Ts. For sub-$20K and the B-pipe unbolted I think it would firmly stomp a mudhole into a new Si with comparable luxury, kind of sad.
I just tuned another K20A3 w/ an AEM. It made peak torque at 6200 through a crappy china cast manifold and some 2" china charge pipe, world's smallest IC, and similar rubbish, 240 whp and 193 wtq at 5 psi. I think my five year strategy is to buy all the $500 nobody-wants K20A3 and K24x drivetrains I can lay my hands on and then sell them for $2K a pop when they catch on like D-series. They aren't the greatest thing ever, but cheap is a quality overcoming many faults.
-
I tried to get my parents to at least look at other cars, but they were stuck on buying a new civic.
Anyone know anything about the R series engines? I know after the 6th gen civic Honda pussed out and went with struts up front which fucking sucks.
-
$5 says I get nothing.
You can buy me a whopper too... I wonder who the moderator is, that let your comment on the page?

this
we have given loaners for oil changes before.

Ouch!
we have given loaners for oil changes before.
Here, they just give you the shaft, no lube. Columbus and Phenix City are Military towns and dealers think they can get away with anything for prices. Smart people take a 40 mile drive to Auburn-Opelika to buy anything

Who is that hot chick in the vid? I can't get over how fucking "cute" she is. Not bonalicious, but like stare at you on the bus cute.
I do agree, they need to re-invest on materials/metalurgy & their engineering "meat & potatoes" such as oiling & tranmissions.

Really? What about danica patrick do you think is attractive? Have you ever seen her walk to her car, she's bow legged as fuck. What else, you think its sexy when her hair is blowing out the back of her helmet, as she's in last place.
She's cleary a 6 at best.

A) she finished 4th this weekend due to pit stratagy
B) she is not bow legged
C) she is good looking, but a stuck up bitch. Atleast went I met her in 2004 at Bobby's shop.
Side note, Danica is so flat front and back that you can't tell which is which from a side profile.

Just how you sickos like em >:(

dat ass is flat like I said!
I'd still hit it after fondling her transmission.

Just how you sickos like em >:(
She needs a wee bit more flare to her hips, but aside from that she's alright. I like her thighs.
-
i watched the vid and read a few comments. nice work indeed mr davis. i think it would be awsoem if they were to contact you and actually get your input on the whole thing since you see the stuff and deal with it in an everyday type situation. lol, watch next thing you know JD is a honda advisor lol.
-
JD your comment was posted on the board. Suprised no one else commented on your comment. Most don't know that much about the problems late model honda's face. Modeling your business Strategy after GM is a good idea. Look how well it's worked for them.
-
Yeah, I'm surprised it's flown. Who knows the reason why, but I've definitely not heard from anyone in an official capacity.
Realistically, I'm not needed as an advisor. They just need to talk to *any* tech who's been with them for a decade or more, ask them what they think about Honda's current direction. Send out regional engineering teams to speak with all of their master techs.
-
Honda has been getting away from the F&F ricer sector, they want no part of it unless MooGen puts a name on it.
