13 + commission so it varies, equates to about 16/hr?  But I have a wife, so that equates to negative 40/hr.

it's rude to ask people how much money they make...

combined income (wife & me) = $11.35 an hour

I've never understood why people say this. Is it similar to asking a woman how much she weighs or something?

I make $150 a week, depending on sales. I don't have a job, I just try to make money where I can. lol Sometimes I'll get lucky and make $300 in a few hours or get a good trade on something(got a set of wheels/tires in trade for a tune the other week).

i sucked it up a long time ago and applied at any job that i'm semi qualified for that was within a 20 mile drive.
i've had 3 call backs and only 1 interview. been without a job since oct 08

Eh, full time student living at home, but I still have fucking bills and need money to have some semblance of a life.  A couple of guys that I used to work with at the stealership opened up a shop really close to me.  I am kind of hoping they need some help as they always seem to be busy as fuck.

I have been unemployed for longer than I care to admit, but when I am in school, it doesn't bother me as much.  Engineering students have no life when school is in session anyway...

Don't work, still in High School, HAHA, never failed a class though.
Work a little bit in the summer for my dad and make about $100 a day at least when I do work, sometimes $200 but it's a very hard physical job though, laminate installer.
After school when not working on my car I usually fix computers for people and charge them from 20-40 a pop flat rate. Usually takes me 35-40 minutes to fix one.

School sucks because no real money is being made, just enough for gas and rehomemadeturbo builds for hondas.

$35k/yr spend more time sittin' on my ass in my office then being on the foundry floor. ;D

My job is to keep the company ISO 9001:2008 compliant and maintain quality standards.

As soon as the economy gets moving my foundry will be back to all hourly personal getting overtime and manager getting raises including me. ;D

I know the guy I replaced was getting $52k/yr and he did less than me so I should be approaching that salary in the next 1yr or so can not wait.

Would be a lot easier if I did not have 4 kids, rent house, and higher cost of living than the average.

But I do have with low taxes. ;D

13$/hour canadian dollar. I work at home, I'm programming a website in PHP/AJAX

Pay check is 742.43$/ 2 weeks  for 70 hours

I made more than that when I was 18 working in a restaurant at 10$/hour. (60 hours/week) overtime paid cash.

I only work 35h/week, like that I can work on my car :P

Girlfriend makes 26$/h or 50k/year.

I should earn that in 2 years when she will be at 60k+  :o

I am severely underpaid for the time/money spent on school/training and money spent on tools.  I was making more as a pizza guy back in high school.

I'm thinking of going back to school this fall for architecture and go back to turning wrenches as a hobby instead of a career.

I can damn well guarantee that I'll have the nicest tools/tool box in the neighborhood.  ;D

welders and fitters generally make the same rate.

but just a welder or just a fitter is easy to come by,  thats only half the package.

i fit and weld out all my own pipe.  i am two men wrapped in one.

i write my own ticket.    a fitter who cant weld is useless,  a welder who cant fit is useless.

a fitter who wleds out his work is priceless.

pa unemployment is 40% of what you made 4 quarters ago, as far back as 5 if you were out of work that long.  they take the highest month you had and consider that the 40% basis.  ie if you make 2000/mo you now get 800/mo

The max PA pays weekly is 540 a week. I made 35k a year at my last job as an industrial pump mechanic, I got laid off due to no work and us being union. I just got a new job operating supersucker vaccum truck at a steel mill, starting out at like 10 an hour, but once i get my CDL (i have my permit currently) should go up to 13 an hour, which still isnt anything great, but for now I can live with it.  :(

Right now I make over 50 an hour. But that is because I am on deployment , tax free, with hazurdous duty , spousle sep, and 124 a day in perdium.   Not to bad for someone enlisted in the military.

I feel the exact same way.  I never bothered to figure out now much I make but it supports my woman and son so I guess it's enough for now.

yea but in alot of situations only 1 man is needed.

id venture to say i could fit a whole tun of pipe and then weld my way back to where i started faster than 2 union nignogs could and it would look better

Question for you nogs, evidently today I was told I got a raise.  The bossman (not the money man) didn't even know how much it went up.  I will find out tomorrow.  I was due for the raise.  I planned on asking for a raise.  How does one handle the situation if the raise is not what one would anticipate getting?  I started out as an "intern" and got paid like one.  About 4 months after starting, I got a 16% raise which is generous by percentage standards, but by actual dollars, it wasn't enough to make me happy.  I continued working for that rate because of the weak economy I felt it was in my best interest to keep working rather than quit and then not find a job.  Now I'm getting another raise and since my first raise wasn't enough, I doubt the second one will put me in the appropriate pay scale since my base pay was low.  How does one approach of the subject of "hey, thanks for the raise, but it's not enough"?

Wait until you see what the raise is actually for, and if it isn't acceptable then be straight up. Are you trying not to hurt anybody's feelings or what? If you need more money tell them, if they won't give it to you then find another job.

As far as bringing it up, talk with your direct supervisor if you get along at all, otherwise bring it straight to HR or your boss' boss, or whoever has authority like that. It really depends on the environment you are in. Don't work for less than you are worth though if you aren't just banking some experience.
