Just got this in a NRA e-mail
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a proposed rule change that directly targets the importation of "assisted opening" folding knives. (Read the proposed rule here.) The proposed regulations would designate all these knives as "switchblades" (despite the fact they do not fall under the federal definition of "switchblades"), and would make them illegal for import into the United States.
The proposed rule could affect all knives that can be opened with one hand, because it also includes changes in the interpretation of "gravity and inertia" opening knives in a way that could outlaw all knives that can be opened with a single hand. This means the new regulation could ban the importation of most of the pocketknives that are now in popular use.

it never ceases to amaze me, how the government can try to restrict such petty things, yet fail to capture one terrorist (Bin Laden) and not really seem all that concerned with more important issues such as national security. Habib isn't going to whip out his pocket knife and whittle up a bomb.
The email also had a clip in it about nearly 50% of the states top Law Enforcement Officials signed a letter to the US attourney general to NOT reinstate a semi-auto weapons ban. So, even the police don't really mind semi-auto in the hands of the general public.

So we cant bring these back from mexico or what>?
-
Thats what they are trying to ban now
-
Buy USA.
-
As long as they don't ban nunchuks, I'll be OK.
-
Wonder what the legalities of making them would be...
-
next thing you know, they will set up FFL licencing to sell a pocket knife
lol
-
What about the pocket knifes with the little tab on them. They aren't mechanical at all and can be opened by your thumb with one hand.

i feel like that is what they mean by assisted since you can assisted with your thumb

I'm gonna put an edge on a spoon, heat treat it, and carry that in a bolster. O0
-
Butterfly knives are already illegal to import, you can only buy American made.

Ban guns and knives and you have 20000 less ppl killed in a year.
You want to be free to have a gun to protect yourself against other people that have a gun. It's fucking stupid. If nobody has a gun, your family and yourselft will always be in security.
You have like 25000 homicide/year in US vs 500 in Canada. More gun = more ppl killed, its just logic.
Your logic is flawed and I'm frustrated everytime I see "Everybody should be allowed to carry a gun because of the constitution". With that thinking its normal that you don't feel safe anywhere. If I know that every fucking retard in the street has a gun, I would not feel safe too.
If only criminals have a gun, its less dangerous that everyone with a gun. Less gun, less fear, less homicide. When one of your children will be killed by a retard in the street that was allowed to carry a gun (it was very important to you to be allowed to have a gun), I wonder how you are going to react. Maybe children should have a gun too... humm, good idea. They should carry it at school in case of a virginia tech situation.
I know this thread is about knives, but I had to give you my 2 cents.
Don't consider this post if you think my logic is flawed ... I'm probably just a stupid and a fucking Canadian and a French Canadian faggot who never owned a gun and never feel the bigger-penis-when-I-have-a-gun-in-my-hands.
Good night :P

teg2foo
i wouldnt like you even if you werent french. but you are, so that's strike 2. im glad your in canada. fuck the french.
the news doesnt report any of the incidents where a civilian who was carrying stopped a crime. thats a fact. its fucked up that they dont because it would encourage people to not commit crimes. but if no one did criminal shit, the news wouldnt have anything to report. its a self propagating cycle.
-
That's exactly the kind of reply I expected, good work.
-
Teg2boo, less guns doesn't not equal less homicides, criminals will always have guns, they will not register their firearms, and they will not buy firearms with that have been registered. They are criminals, they do not abide by the law. In BC here it is damn near impossible to have a handgun, and guess what, in my small town there are a few homicides a week.
-
Washington DC has one of the higher murder rates in the country, and it has basically banned all firearms
-
here in my country its illegal to carry a pocket knife longer than 4", but you can legaly carry automatic handguns, and as many clips of any capacity that you want
you can find cheaper 30rnd clips than original beretta ones 17 rnd ones

you have no idea what your talking about. you ban gun ownership to law abiding citizens the criminals STILL WILL ALWAYS OWN GUNS BECAUSE THEY DONT OBEY THE LAW. you have no grasp on reality.
how about we ban poutine you filthy french faggot. FFF

Yeah but its only a state. You can buy a gun in any other state.

Criminal will always have gun I agree. But its not only criminals that kill people.
Criminals want money, they don't want necessarily to kill you for nothing.
Less gun = less homicide is a fact. If at least the gun is harder to find, the retarded kid who wants to kill everyone then to suicide will maybe not do it.
Gun gives power. Maybe the :mexi: who is poor and can't get a job will not holdup if he doesnt have a gun.
You don't fight fire with fire. You can with an explosion, but its another story ;)

Then?? There are no 10M criminals Corey can't you understand this? If only 100k ppl have a gun the chance you get killed by a gun is equal to have an accident on an empty road.
100k / 300M = almost no chance to be killed. And 100k criminals is kinda big estimation.
I have no idea what I'm talking about, I forgot I was on another planet.
-
You're retarded. You do know people kill other people everyday for $5 right?
Yeah he killed the other person with a gun he could buy at walmart.
-
^ You do realize just because they ban them it won't stop them from getting used by criminals. Where do you think all the current guns will go? No to mention now you have created a demand for a black market which then gives people a reason to kill you to take your gun.
-
I know its hard to remove all the gun, kinda impossible...
Criminals will use it, its a fact. But in canada we have criminal like in every other fucking country, but only them have a gun.
If they want to steal your money they will do it because citizens don't have a gun. Nobody got killed, you call the police, your insurance and you get your money back. /problem
I you think I will risk my life or the life of my family for 100$ or even 1000$ fuck that.
"Yeah, but its my money" yeah, but this money can come back in your pocket a day or another. Life will not.

No, incase the tweakers decide they need to steal my xbox to cover their drug habit. Some idiot kid walked into my place last night at 11pm thinking it was his buddies place that is nextdoor, almost got his head blown off. Glad I heard him yelling to his buddy before he opened the door

More American people die from medical malpractice than from firearms. Fuck your ignorant anti-gun agenda, Teg2Gay, the clear solution here is to ban doctors.

I know that. If there was that much of error on the software the planes use there should have 2 crash of big 447 full of people per day.
That's why I don't get sick ;)
-
Sick people are a burden on the healthy. They should be shot.

In the United States, a quarter of commercial robberies are committed with guns.[45] Robberies committed with guns are three times as likely to result in fatalities compared with robberies where other weapons were used,[45][46][47] with similar patterns in cases of family violence.[48] Criminologist Philip J. Cook hypothesizes that if guns were less available, criminals may likely commit the crime anyway but with less-lethal weapons.[49] He finds that the level of gun ownership in the 50 largest U.S. cities correlates with the rate of robberies committed with guns, but not overall robbery rates.[50][51] A significant number of homicides result as a by-product of another violent crime which escalates, with the offender going into the crime without a clear or sustained intent to kill or be killed.[47][52] Overall robbery and assault rates in the United States are also comparable to other developed countries, such as Australia and Finland, notwithstanding the much lower levels of gun ownership in those countries.[49][52]

I'm not anti-gun at all. Hunting is legitimate.
I'm only against the "fight guns with guns idea".
Again, I understand you because its in your culture to have guns.
I just don't think its safe to be in a country of 300M population and 200M guns in circulation. Whatever they are used for.
It's only an argumentation, don't be that scared of other's opinion, even if you thing its stupid. lol
I'm done, g'night fuckers :P

no its morons with the mentality you have that is the reason we have people trying to impose on our constitutional (you know, the thing this whole country was founded on) right to own and carry guns.

Gun Ownership Mandatory In Kennesaw, Georgia
Crime Rate Plummets
by Chuck Baldwin
The New American magazine reminds us that March 25th marked the 16th anniversary of Kennesaw, Georgia's ordinance requiring heads of households (with certain exceptions) to keep at least one firearm in their homes.
The city's population grew from around 5,000 in 1980 to 13,000 by 1996 (latest available estimate). Yet there have been only three murders: two with knives (1984 and 1987) and one with a firearm (1997). After the law went into effect in 1982, crime against persons plummeted 74 percent compared to 1981, and fell another 45 percent in 1983 compared to 1982.
And it has stayed impressively low. In addition to nearly non-existent homicide (murders have averaged a mere 0.19 per year), the annual number of armed robberies, residential burglaries, commercial burglaries, and rapes have averaged, respectively, 1.69, 31.63, 19.75, and 2.00 through 1998.
With all the attention that has been heaped upon the lawful possession of firearms lately, you would think that a city that requires gun ownership would be the center of a media feeding frenzy. It isn't. The fact is I can't remember a major media outlet even mentioning Kennesaw. Can you?
The reason is obvious. Kennesaw proves that the presence of firearms actually improves safety and security. This is not the message that the media want us to hear. They want us to believe that guns are evil and are the cause of violence.
The facts tell a different story. What is even more interesting about Kennesaw is that the city's crime rate decreased with the simple knowledge that the entire community was armed. The bad guys didn't force the residents to prove it. Just knowing that residents were armed prompted them to move on to easier targets. Most criminals don't have a death wish.
There have been two occasions in my own family when the presence of a handgun averted potential disaster. In both instances the gun was never aimed at a person and no shot was fired.
Back on topic here, Knives not Guns
-
Never was a fan of having a handgun for primary home defense, because I've always lived in apartments. Overpenetration with a 9mm is greater than a .223
-
my cock is cocked and ready to blowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
-
looks like my husky razor knife is now illegal. radical.
-
When they come to take my guns, you better believe they will have a fight on there hands. I dont care much for knifes anyways, so it wont effect me. How many of you own and illegal buttrfly knife anyways. I would be willing to bet a good prcentage does.

i find that really hard to believe a round that comes out of a barrell at 1500ft/s has more over penetration then a round with 3K+ ft/s muzzle velocity. even if its a larger projectile it has more surface area to slow it down as it hits things.

it's because he believes in the fragmentation fairy that sprinkles pixie dust on gay 223
-
the .223/5.56 is designed to fragment when it contacts something. So, it causes a big wound channel, but has issues carrying past whatever it first hits, which is why the 9mm has more penetration in a home defense situation. Chalk it up to strange but true. The .223 is also a very light weight projectile in comparison to the typical 147gr JHP 9mm's that people load for HD. 55-77gr projectile that is designed to fragment, vs a 147gr projectile that is not.
Cliffs: .223 Tumbles once it gets out of wack in flight, and also fragments, so it has issues going through walls. Not saying a 9mm is a huge penetration risk, but it is much greater than the risk of a .223
Scoooot: If it is fairy dust, why is it pretty much standard fact in the gun community? And it's not so much the fragmentation, its the fact that the .223 tumbles after initial impact, also part of its design.

teg2boo is a fucking loser and he is the type of sheeple that are ruining this country (already ruined canada)
the 2nd amendment is about having firearms to protect yourself from the state, not to hunt or to protect from criminals.

Up for the day.
It's not the gun owners you worry about - ballistic forensics is a mature science, and if you kill someone with a firearm the odds are you're caught. If you are worried about murders it's cold blooded motherfuckers who know strange chemical interactions that you worry about. I know shit I can give you a dose of, with no side effects, and then three weeks later give you a dose of something else and there's a high probability you die.

9mm JHP penetrated through 8 3/4" pine boards.
.223 went through all 12 boards he had and was still moving, it tumbled but that didn't slow it down that much.

Well shit. Good find. Glad I don't have either one for home defense. 12 gauge is my choice. Consider me, and 99% of military and civilian police training proved wrong

Home defense = 000 buckshot 12 gauge.

00 buck in slots 1 & 2, and 375gr Sabot Slugs in 3,4,5,6. That's how it is sitting right next to my couch right now. I hate living in tweakerville

chances are my mossberg wont be fully shouldered right and would pop me a good one in the face or something with my luck, practice and a real situation are two different stresses on your head. personally i can practice all good and have no mistakes, but in a real situation, jam ups and fuck ups could be the end of me

For 0-20 ft (home defense) 7 1/2 shot would be fine I bet.

exactly, 223 only fragments are a cerrtain range when it begins to slow down. IIRC its 150-300yards where you have a good chance of fragmentation. Even so its still a .223 sized round that MIGHT fragment, vs a .30x round that will not shrink.
-
The muzzle energy difference between the 9mm and .223 is huge too.
9mm 124 grain JHP at 1180fps is 383ft/lbs
.223 55 grain at 3240fps 1282 ft/lbs
Kind of a cool little calculator.

I watched .223 9mm and 45 all fragment when my old man was ghetto testing knock-down power against 4" x 3/16" thick steel square tubing.
the .223 was the only one the fragments were inside the tube and denting the back side. Fucked our stand all to hell
