More American people die from medical malpractice than from firearms.  Fuck your ignorant anti-gun agenda, Teg2Gay, the clear solution here is to ban doctors.

I know that. If there was that much of error on the software the planes use there should have 2 crash of big 447 full of people per day.

That's why I don't get sick ;)

Quote
In the United States, a quarter of commercial robberies are committed with guns.[45] Robberies committed with guns are three times as likely to result in fatalities compared with robberies where other weapons were used,[45][46][47] with similar patterns in cases of family violence.[48] Criminologist Philip J. Cook hypothesizes that if guns were less available, criminals may likely commit the crime anyway but with less-lethal weapons.[49] He finds that the level of gun ownership in the 50 largest U.S. cities correlates with the rate of robberies committed with guns, but not overall robbery rates.[50][51] A significant number of homicides result as a by-product of another violent crime which escalates, with the offender going into the crime without a clear or sustained intent to kill or be killed.[47][52] Overall robbery and assault rates in the United States are also comparable to other developed countries, such as Australia and Finland, notwithstanding the much lower levels of gun ownership in those countries.[49][52]

I'm not anti-gun at all. Hunting is legitimate.

I'm only against the "fight guns with guns idea".

Again, I understand you because its in your culture to have guns.

I just don't think its safe to be in a country of 300M population and 200M guns in circulation. Whatever they are used for.

It's only an argumentation, don't be that scared of other's opinion, even if you thing its stupid. lol

I'm done, g'night fuckers :P

Gun Ownership Mandatory In Kennesaw, Georgia
Crime Rate Plummets

by Chuck Baldwin

The New American magazine reminds us that March 25th marked the 16th anniversary of Kennesaw, Georgia's ordinance requiring heads of households (with certain exceptions) to keep at least one firearm in their homes.

The city's population grew from around 5,000 in 1980 to 13,000 by 1996 (latest available estimate). Yet there have been only three murders: two with knives (1984 and 1987) and one with a firearm (1997). After the law went into effect in 1982, crime against persons plummeted 74 percent compared to 1981, and fell another 45 percent in 1983 compared to 1982.

And it has stayed impressively low. In addition to nearly non-existent homicide (murders have averaged a mere 0.19 per year), the annual number of armed robberies, residential burglaries, commercial burglaries, and rapes have averaged, respectively, 1.69, 31.63, 19.75, and 2.00 through 1998.

With all the attention that has been heaped upon the lawful possession of firearms lately, you would think that a city that requires gun ownership would be the center of a media feeding frenzy. It isn't. The fact is I can't remember a major media outlet even mentioning Kennesaw. Can you?

The reason is obvious. Kennesaw proves that the presence of firearms actually improves safety and security. This is not the message that the media want us to hear. They want us to believe that guns are evil and are the cause of violence.

The facts tell a different story. What is even more interesting about Kennesaw is that the city's crime rate decreased with the simple knowledge that the entire community was armed. The bad guys didn't force the residents to prove it. Just knowing that residents were armed prompted them to move on to easier targets. Most criminals don't have a death wish.

There have been two occasions in my own family when the presence of a handgun averted potential disaster. In both instances the gun was never aimed at a person and no shot was fired.

Never was a fan of having a handgun for primary home defense, because I've always lived in apartments.  Overpenetration with a 9mm is greater than a .223

Ban guns and knives and you have 20000 less ppl killed in a year.

You want to be free to have a gun to protect yourself against other people that have a gun. It's fucking stupid. If nobody has a gun, your family and yourselft will always be in security.

You have like 25000 homicide/year in US vs 500 in Canada. More gun = more ppl killed, its just logic.

Your logic is flawed and I'm frustrated everytime I see "Everybody should be allowed to carry a gun because of the constitution". With that thinking its normal that you don't feel safe anywhere. If I know that every fucking retard in the street has a gun, I would not feel safe too.

If only criminals have a gun, its less dangerous that everyone with a gun. Less gun, less fear, less homicide. When one of your children will be killed by a retard in the street that was allowed to carry a gun (it was very important to you to be allowed to have a gun), I wonder how you are going to react. Maybe children should have a gun too... humm, good idea. They should carry it at school in case of a virginia tech situation.

I know this thread is about knives, but I had to give you my 2 cents.

Don't consider this post if you think my logic is flawed ... I'm probably just a stupid and a fucking Canadian and a French Canadian faggot who never owned a gun and never feel the bigger-penis-when-I-have-a-gun-in-my-hands.

Good night :P

i find that really hard to believe a round that comes out of a barrell at 1500ft/s has more over penetration then a round with 3K+ ft/s muzzle velocity. even if its a larger projectile it has more surface area to slow it down as it hits things.

the .223/5.56 is designed to fragment when it contacts something.  So, it causes a big wound channel, but has issues carrying past whatever it first hits, which is why the 9mm has more penetration in a home defense situation.  Chalk it up to strange but true.  The .223 is also a very light weight projectile in comparison to the typical 147gr JHP 9mm's that people load for HD.  55-77gr projectile that is designed to fragment, vs a 147gr projectile that is not.

Cliffs: .223 Tumbles once it gets out of wack in flight, and also fragments, so it has issues going through walls.  Not saying a 9mm is a huge penetration risk, but it is much greater than the risk of a .223

Scoooot:  If it is fairy dust, why is it pretty much standard fact in the gun community?  And it's not so much the fragmentation, its the fact that the .223 tumbles after initial impact, also part of its design.

the 2nd amendment is about having firearms to protect yourself from the state, not to hunt or to protect from criminals.

Up for the day.

It's not the gun owners you worry about - ballistic forensics is a mature science, and if you kill someone with a firearm the odds are you're caught.  If you are worried about murders it's cold blooded motherfuckers who know strange chemical interactions that you worry about.   I know shit I can give you a dose of, with no side effects, and then three weeks later give you a dose of something else and there's a high probability you die.

Sure doesn't look like what this guys tests found.

http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot1_2.htm

9mm JHP penetrated through 8 3/4" pine boards.
.223 went through all 12 boards he had and was still moving, it tumbled but that didn't slow it down that much.

Well shit. Good find. Glad I don't have either one for home defense.  12 gauge is my choice.  Consider me, and 99% of military and civilian police training proved wrong
