Alright so I've been reading up on this and have a question. I know questions about this setup have been asked a million times so bear with me please.
Can I put the y8 head on the z6 block with the z6 cam and cam gear on it?
Also then what timing belt do I use?
All the shit I've been reading on the net has me all sorts of confused and can't find this specific question anywhere.
-
so your just changing the head casting.......why would the timing change?

That's my thought process as well. There's more too it than that though.
-
Really? where????
Only ting will be bump in compression from the smaller chambers and maybe the need to open the slots on the dizzy to get 16 BTDC ignition timing.
You'd need a "non" VTEC style dizzy though, which I consider a big plus.
-
The dizzy is one thing that's more to it. And I hadn't been able to find the answer about using the z6 cam and cam gear. Everyone was swapping cams and gears with each other which changes timing like 4.5* but I couldn't find the answer to if I use a z6 cam and gear. It should work fine though I guess.

Your staying with a same height block, same height head, therefore if the cam gear matches the cam. nothing changes.
This is simple stuff.
-
And the head is the same height correct. These where things I was assuming but had been unable to verify. I appreciate the help.

searching owns you

Searching Destroys me. If you found it with the search please show me because I'm being ass raped with a huge dong by the search feature.

dude. my fuckin build thread is stickied on in the FI topic. its the same shit...a6=z6 block
-
use a z6 belt. keep the cam gear with the correct cam...
z6 cam use z6 gear
y8 cam use y8 gear

Thank you. I was searching for Z6 the whole time DOH! That's why I couldn't find it. I had assumed it would be that way but was looking for verification. Thanks again.
