Title: Real Hydro conv. in EF OPINIONS?
Post by: hatchboy on March 14, 2009, 02:29:05 AM
I need some help finding my path on what to do so give me some input bitches.
I have a twin disc, with a cable>hydro conv. from hasport with the BS swing arm.  Ive read and tested myself, and the pedal pressure is insane and damn near guarenteed to break the clutch mount bracket under the dash in short time. The twin disc's just can't be used with that bullshit conversion

So here are my options....
THe hasport
(https://realhomemadeturbo.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hasport.com%2Fimages%2Fcma-ani.gif&hash=ecfa9e96a7e8d04f4bfd77ef076943a2bee4c83e)

Or the Innovative one which looks just like it....

Or this bracket that bolts to pedal assembly.. THen you just run line to slave... Which makes it completely a hydro setup This setup would cost me around 300 to complete it.

What would be my best option here for the strongest setup that will somewhat last.

I have had never had to do the conversion, have done no research on it, but what would prevent you from taking the pedal assembally/hardware out of a hydro tranny car and bolting/welding it up? (obviously only if this option was considerably cheaper than the 300 dollar option)

I suppose I'm asking more of a question than attempting to give advice.

I say as long as the pedal assembly bracket is solid go with it. Less crap to eventually break or mess up. I think Jorsher is going to be using on no his rex.

I've DIY'd a hydro conversion into a cable car with an EG pedal assembly and some flat stock steel.

Fuck spending 300 dollars.

Minor Threat, where did your clutch master cyl go? It can only fit inside on the cars due to space.

I forgot exactly who it was, but on the old HMT someone did a write-up on reinforcing the EF pedals, and also showed his EF hydro pedals. It looked JUST like that version you posted. I'd go with that one if you can't weld the parts to your own pedal assembly. This was next on my list for my EF, but I decided to return it to stock & sell it.

The master was in the car, under the dash.

Buy a 100$ flux welder and make some, I used like 3 peices of flat steel bent in a vice to make mine.

The pedal setup is pretty much the only way I would ever do a cable to hydro conversion.  Too much crap to break or wear out in the other setups.

Which is all the last set of pictures.

I think thats the one im going to go with (under dash setup)
I would make my own, but i have a strict time line as everything is at my parents house 4 hours south of me, and i don't get down there more than 1 or 2 days every other month. And there is no welder there.

you still have to do some welding and grind the bracket to fit with the Suja... seems to me the least work is the innovative.

I realize this thread is old as fuck, but what do you still have to grind/weld?

I went with the suja1/sonem/whatever conversion posted above.  I just pulled out the pedal assembly earlier this week and bolted the bracket to it...it doesn't fit perfectly but that just means torque the bolts harder O0

I would be interested in the link on reinforcing the pedals.

Fuck all that. Just put an electric solenoid on that bitch. With the press of a button, the clutch is in or out.

Because a supercharged J37A4 v6 swap is the new pink, and has the balls to not bog. Spinning wins burnout contests, not races...
