Title: damn canadian scammers
Post by: HiProfile on November 05, 2009, 03:10:39 PM
Well I'm not sure if this Canadian guy is just a dunce or not, but long story short:

18 days ago I paid for a stock GSR manifold, fuel rail, TB, iab vac box, and IACV. Finally got it yesterday - it is missing the IACV, TPS is cracked (expected), metal vac tubes are bent all over, and to top it off ... GIANT CRACK through half of runner #4. FYI this was from H-T.com, only place I could find a "complete" GSR intake manifold.

So I filed a complaint with paypal, and plan on getting whatever I can for it w/o shipping back. Otherwise he's paying for overnight'ing it back to Winnipeg from Wisconsin. Regardless of the outcome, I'll get my money back. The credit card company I used to pay with is awsome, and will definately give me a charge-back since I always document the shit out of my purchases.

Cliffs: don't trust canadians from Honda-tech. :-\

BTW can anyone find me a dyno comparison of a stock GSR intake vs Skunk2/etc intake manifold? All I can find are everything-stock vs intake+full boltons.

From Winnipeg, fuck he was probably Metis, and had just car jacked an American for the motor. He is now getting high huffing the left over gasoline in the tank.

If you look in the pic he sent, you can see the oily line at the base of runner #4 (closest). In my pic, you can see how oil leaked from the crack, besides where I wiped it off to make it visible. Another thing to note is the coolant tube below the throttle body (barely visible) - it's bent & twisted 180* the wrong way. It's not a big deal itself, but shows there were 2 visbile defects BEFORE he shipped it. I think he's going to try claim insurance, otherwise I'll fight for every dollar through paypal, and through the CC if needed.

click for super-size CRACK:

+1 one then he will buy meth or propane with the money from the manifold.

Insurance on shipping items will result in denial unless 2 factors

One its just plain lost
or The shipping company before delivery takes not of the damage and you are let known before it is delivered to you. This has only happened to me once in thousands of packages shipped/sent. The box was literally smashed in half and looked like a pallet fell on it. If not they will gladly throw the claim in the trash

If they let cases like this result in free money for a guy shipping broken parts to begin with then showing uo broken shipping companies would be broker than United states banking system

Regarding the gsr manifold vs aftermarket gsr based manifolds they make 6-8 whp on stock motors. Pro products manifold gsr manifold was my fav for the cheap price but they no longer offer them due to the typical story of today no sales=parts collecting dust=you go bankrupt

yes.

or just take it to a alum weld shop and have them weld it up.

Or just buy another gsr manifold bare they arent worth much 20 bucks at most. Finding one local shouldnt be hard since gsr manifolds are usually thrown away by most.

welding would cost more than finding another bare one

when I took the direct port nitrous off my manifold I just sprayed the four holes in the runners with brake parts cleaner and then stuck a blob of JB-stick weld on/in them to fill the holes. Been boosted for 11 months now and I've pressure tested the manifold/charge pipes to 28 PSI, shit don't leak.

See in the fab section when we talked about brazing aluminium, might be an option?

I don't know how well it works on cast tho... It cost 3$

The problem is aluminum cracks like to propogate (spread). If I keep the manifold, I'll probably give it a shot though. I have some devcon alum epoxy that works tits on alum. I'll drill the ends, try to open/clean the crack with acid or something, then try to create a vacuum deal to force it into the crack.

The main problem is that I paid a bit extra because he promised it was a complete manifold, minus iat+map. Instead I get a pile of shit that looks like a crack whore's snatch. Around here the only people that have extra crap are the Hmongs, which hord parts and severely overcharge for them. Statistically they are the 2nd biggest drain on welfare in my area, behind O0's. I hate them extra over regular asians.

BTW I'm not holding my breath for the insurance. It's mainly just so people are forced to get a tracking # and actually send it. I've had non-insured stuff magically disappear, but never insured stuff. Regardless, this guy is up a creek given the evidence. The paypal note even describes I should have received an IACV and everything in working order, in case paypal ever looks into it.

Yeah, I know that now. But till that point I've always had good luck anywhere, as long as it was not Canadian.

A while back I got some SRP pistons, that turned out to be A) used, B) beat to piss with iron chunks pressed into the crown. Guess where the seller lived - FUCKING CANADA.
