So dummy goes out and buys a talon. Subsequent texts look something like this.
They removed the floor in the trunk to work on the gas tank. I never noticed
I get like 5mpg now
it only makes 6psi of boost

But really tho, Talons don't seem to difficult to work on, lots of room, its fairly simple shit. Only thing i noticed was shitty wiring and more vac lines than an FD.

Truth. Most of the problems with the 3s can be fixed, and worst case you build a 2.2 bottom end and replace the cranks every few years with a cheap widely available camry unit. Price me a gsx drivetrain and watch me laugh at you.
Sorry. Ive built dsm and toyota. The all-trac is ten times the car any dsm is. Ill take its semi-shitty engine and damn near indestructible drivetrain over the dsm's badass engine and failure drivetrain.

Actually, Robb's fantasy is a 4G63 bolted to a 3S transmission of some flavor with a Honda ECU to control it all.
And MR2 Girl's All-Trac has been running longer than any DSM I know of.

The problem with the alltrac is parts availability. They understeer, handle like ass ect. I remember hearing it takes 20hours to change a clutch lol.

Eh, bit more than 2 hours. The transfercase/center diff on the st185/st205 is a bitch to get back on the trans, but other than that a cake walk.
Put the guts of a 3s tranny (cant remember the trans code at the moment) next to a w5m33 gearset and prepare to laugh. It makes the dsm trans look wimpy as fuck.

Really? I can do a clutch on my st162 in about an hour flat assuming no bolt issues. But i can imagine it taking an extra hour to fuck with the dif and get everything aligned. Those transmissions are not light :?:

I did break your harness lol, but FU i fixed it better than new!
Last I heard in order to take the clutch out of an alltra you have to remove, diff, tranny, a bunch of weird subframe shit ect. I don't speak from experience tho. If it takes 2hours to remove the motor than im assuming that is way fuckin easier.

The weird sub frame shit needs removed on the st162 also. It takes like 5 minutes. The hardest part with the 162 is getting the transmission back on.

From what I can tell the Nissan stuff is pretty damned stout, the STI drivetrain seems strong, the audi stuff from what i can tell is strong, my buddy hasnt broken his yet and hes at around 450whp or so? maybe more. What drivetrain is in the evo? Is it the same junk as talon as far as diff, transfer case ect?

So we went out to the country to fix the fuckign giant hole in the talons truck. THe old owner must of smoked some meth and fixed his fuel pump, cause that is the only reason I think anyone would cut the floor out of the truck instead of dropping the tank. What I dont get is it doesnt even look like anyone even changed anything while they were in there. Genius. Couple rivets, beer, seam sealer, sheet metal and one princess auto bowl later.

My friend has a 2g dsm with a 6bolt. Last time he ran another friend his car started on fire. Crank pressure blew the dip stick out, and the red-hot manifold started the oil spray on fire. One thing I've learned is that *ANY* car that could in any way be considered an enthusiast's car (Honda, dsm, 240, etc) is to ALWAYS check every inch of the car over. Most people get them with dreams but no cash. They try doing shit themselves and just ruin the car.
The best thing I've seen so far was probably "fixing" rear brake lines with a vice grips. Unfortunately it came off backing down a hill, and my bro almost crushed my car with his bronco.
