Today I received my 7 yr olds report card. Clearly not a saint or the devil, the issues were a given (in my mind).
Here's the fucked part. This is a copy of a letter sent with the report card.
"Dear Mom and/or Dad,
Today you will be seeing my report card. This report card will be my teacher's attempt to describe my actions and accomplishments at school during the past weeks. As you read the card, please remember that my teacher is describing someone near and dear to you, so please don't get "uptight" if you see a blemish. I hope you will accept me as I am.

Remember that all children do not learn to walk and talk at the same rate. Please do not compare me to my brothers, sisters or friends, because I am unique to this world. Be realistic in setting my goals. I need to be challenged, but not to be pushed beyond my ability. I need to taste success and I need time to "smell the flowers" while I am still a child.
Please understand that my report card is a picture of me at school. It is a whole different world from the one at home. Can you imagine having 23 children my age at the dinner table, or 200 children in your backyard playing? Don't be surprised to find that I respond in a different manner at school.
My teacher knows me as I am at school. You know me as I am at home. The "real me" may be somewhere in between. When these two images are blended with sufficient understanding, acceptance and love, I hope you will see a unique individual who can make you proud and bring you much happiness.

My kid had her science teacher send home all the status reports (halfway through the six week term) in spanish. Instead of signing it, I requested a copy in english as I do not speak spanish. They think they can ignore me but I'm not putting up with that shit, if they want to send me official school communications in a foreign fucking language they are going to have to provide me instruction in that language, and pay me for my time spent to learn it.

+1.... I got my ass beat for anything failing when i was in school. And when i was too old to get my ass kicked, i was grounded till i was fixed. And when my kid gets into school, im going to fix him by whooping his ass too. Just gotta watch out for those faggot ass parents who thing putting a whooping on your kid is wrong and will call the cops on you.

Speaking of pussy parents, has anyone seen that newer MTV show "Most Strict Parents"? It's the only thing good on that shit station, and it's actually decent watching these clueless "rebels" get a taste of disapline. I just wish they'd send the next pair to a Neo-nazi or raging alcoholic's house. THAT would teach them.

I was allowed to do whatever while I was a kid and I basically took care of myself since I was 10. I went to college on my own with no guidance or assistance.
Beating your kid over public school grades usually just means you lack the ability to articulate your values and explain to your kid why they're important. Although k-12 public school grades are not important.

Ease of printing is a non issue, as is comprehension. Fuck it, send them a 4 page letter of 0's and 1's to say four sentences. Not like they are going to make an effort to decipher it anyway.

this reminds me of an article i read a week or so back. in England or some shit they are petitioning to get rid of the term "fail" in school system as to not discourage kids. they want to switch the term to "deferred success". seriously what the fuck is that??
