the only cars i see with rusted hoods had major engine fires
and the wide wheel/skinny tire is about cost im pretty sure-or the fact that they dont make tires that wide sizes that small that aren't slicks
Seen this done on a set of Niche Assassin rims on a '95 Prelude.
This guy kind of a Low Rider fan wanted to be taken seriously as an Import race fan.
He buys these rims and has these tires put on that where skinner than the rim.
Usually tires need to be sized where the rim width is 70% to 90% of the tire.
His was @ 110% of the tire.
His wife drives the 'Lude more than he does.
He told me that he as had to have both front tires remounted twice on each side.
Shortly after talking to him about this, his wife was driving at highway speeds and pops the bead on the passenger side.
Now on this section on interstate there is small section that has 3 lanes, one the lanes is for an exit and on ramps.
She was parked in that lane at an angle not straight in the lane.
She got out to look at the tire then went to the barrier and proceeds to grab her cell and calls her husband and yell at him.
While she is on the phone (she was about 15 ft. or so away from the car) a semi-tractor trailer hits the 'Lude.
With such force that all air bags go off, all windows shatter, and the nose was almost knocked clean off.
The nose was only held by a thin chunk of sheetmetal on the passenger's side where the strut tower meets the rest of the chassis.
To this day this guy will not even think about going out of the safe guidlines of tire to rim requirements. ;D
