Sounds overly complicated.  Ultimately, I'm glad I'd never purchase a crApple product.

JD why the Apple reference?

More Apple-douchebaggery is they're suing HTC for patent infringements.

RS - you're supposed to be able to set the APN settings during the google sign-in.  I'm not going to reset my phone to find out, but IIRC you could press menu while in the initial setup and it has an option for the settings.

Also 1.6 "Donut" is the newest official G1.  It has some nice improvements.

2.0 is supposedly being released for the Vodaphone's version of the G1 in Spain.  If this is true then expect either an official one from T-Mob, or xda devs.

The point of "rooting" your phone is so you can do shit like install apps to the memory card among other things...  Gives you root access.

I'm fine with the official firmwares though.  WinMo I always flashed because the official roms were always buggy/slow/crashed/etc.  Android runs well enough, although I would like to install apps to SD.

one thing i absolutely hate is that fact that you can't close apps on the android. it just leaves them open. its really annoying...

it has 6 apps open in the background until it will close the 1st one when you open a 7th.

retarded

Well it isn't necessary is their reasoning, which is true as it has really good garbage collect routines (use tracing while running the debugger in Eclipse, you'll see garbage collects a LOT).

But yeah I feel yah, stuff running in the background is extra battery being used, no matter how idle they are.

you need to download a task manager app. They allow you to close the apps you are not using individually
