hi, i finished my 3" exhaust for my EF, problem now it's touching with heat shield plate that goes below fuel tank, im thinking in removing it but im not sure how safe will be..

ill post pics later.

I dont remember seeing any heat shield on my fuel tank. My 3" exhaust was hitting the shift linkage though.

Mine was doing that and rattling like a mother fucker. I removed the heat shield, and just wrapped that section of pipe, since my fuel tank is all plastic and shit. 6 months and no problems with mine.

No shield here. Mine rattled.... and to get the 4" exhaust and muffler to fit under the shifter it had to go. My ex stops short of the tank and its all good

Lol, it won't hurt anything. I have a few thousand miles with an e-cutout 3" in front of my gas tank! Of course only 1/4 or 1/3 the miles is with the cutout open. I ran all that time with ignition cut for rev limiter, so redline would backfire at 120dB's right onto the tank. The car is still outside, waiting to be abused for the month of June.

I was worried at first, but the tank doesn't even change temp. Unless you have a very leaky tank, a massive backfire, and the car isn't moving - there's really no danger. The people with DPs ending right below the oil pan are at a greater risk. Any oil leak could lead to a slow-burning fire that will travel up the block to the main leak - usually the valve cover.
